I’m the managing director for Excelano which is a company that I started several years ago. We do consulting, and we are also now building a software product.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They worked with me to develop a SaaS product that includes a couple of different parts. The software is implemented on PHP on the backend and has a REST API. I also had them work on the frontend, which is a combination of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React. 

The software is basically a project and portfolio management tool that we are building out and planning to use as a SaaS. 

We are also going to do Android and iOS applications, and then provide the API as endpoints for other applications if they want to do integrations with it.I haven’t started iOS and Android yet. 

What is the team composition?

I worked with three people. The main developer was the primary person I worked with, but I also worked with the business manager who is in Belarus. They also have a person in the US who I interfaced with for billing and things like that.

How did you come to work with Adexin?

I was looking specifically for teams in Eastern Europe. I had good experiences with other vendors in that region. I found them on LinkedIn initially. I connected with them, and quite a few others. I had in-depth conversations with about five other groups. I needed someone that was really flexible and with a base in the US. 

Adexin met all of my requirements. They had good quality people, and they had a reputation for doing good work. It was also important to me that they had open source so that I could actually go in and look at their code to see if their code was good.

How much have you invested in them?

So far, I’ve spent about $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2020. We finished up the first part of the project in November 2020. Right now, we are taking a break, but I will probably start the next project in January 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I was able to establish a good level of trust with the manager that I worked with. He understood where I was coming from, what my needs were, and was able to work with me and be flexible. Right now the product is only available for internal use and beta testing. However, so far I’m happy with how it’s turned out. 

How did Adexin perform from a project management standpoint?

We ran it as a scrum project and we communicated daily. We had different time zones, so we basically chose a time that worked well for everybody to have a daily stand-up meeting. We were getting constant feedback and working directly together. 

We used GitHub for our code tracking. We would assign a task within GitHub. A separate branch would be created, and then they would work on it and check it in. We made sure that someone else on the team, whether it was me or the other developer, would look at the code so that we were all on the same page. If there was anything that needed to be changed, we would tweak it and go back and forth.

Every two weeks, we did a demonstration and had a meeting on Zoom. The developers would show off the features that they had developed during that two-week period. 

I encouraged the team to communicate directly with one another and they did that. They worked well together, and they all got along. They all had the same vision.

There were parts of the project where I had them work part-time and parts of the project where I had them work full-time, and they were great at that. They were very easy to work with and flexible on scheduling.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The code is excellent. I wanted someone that had done REST API using PHP, and our developer has done that. They understood what to do without me having to sit down and explain every little piece. 

They were able to conceptualize the product clearly. It saved a lot of time and made the process go much faster than if I had to sit down and explain every little piece to it. That is probably the best part about it. They understood what needed to happen and just did it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

To be honest, I was perfectly happy with everything they did. They did exactly what I asked them to do. They were easy to work with, and they were flexible. Obviously, there is always room for improvement, but I was honestly happy all around. I don’t think there is anything that they should have done differently. They were a great partner for me, and I hope to use them in the future.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Get to know the team and understand what they bring to the table. They are going to bring value, and sometimes they are going to bring value that you didn’t even expect. Get to know them personally and let them do their thing.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The project was a very important basic project for our customer on which we will build in the future. Accordingly, we had to choose the architecture very well. Furthermore, we focused on the responsiveness and the interaction with the highchart libraries.

We used microsoft teams and azure dev ops to collaborate and it worked well with vendor.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We have received quite interesting input that we did not know before. So we were also able to improve our know-how.

Basically, I did not find anything important that could have gone better

I’m the CEO Numerum Oy, an accounting firm based in Finland. We have three full-time employees and four part-time ones.

What challenge were you trying to address with Adexin?

We wanted to develop a mobile app that allows small business owners to keep all their bookkeeping documents in one place, including receipts, bills, and tax reports. We hired Adexin for the job.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Adexin designed and developed our app based on our specifications, taking care of everything from UI/UX design to Android, iOS, and desktop app development. We had some Q&A sessions at the start to gather our requirements. It was easy to communicate with them despite dealing with technical terms beyond an ordinary person’s knowledge. Adexin made what they were going to do easy to understand.

The mobile app allows users to take pictures of their receipts and send bills or tax reports directly to their customers for products and/or services. The desktop version is meant for accountants, who receive all the necessary documents from their clients over the cloud through the app and then send reports to the tax administration. 

What is the team composition?

We were in contact with one person 24/7, but their designer was also present during meetings. Overall, there’s been a team of several people working on our project.

How did you come to work with Adexin?

We met and talked with them briefly at a festival where we were showcasing a demo version of the app. When we began considering replacing the company we were using at the time, we thought of Adexin. I browsed their website and ultimately chose them based on our communication. I also felt that their services were much cheaper than the options we had in Finland but were still of high quality. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent €32,000 (approximately $35,895 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Adexin in August 2018. The project is still ongoing, but we’ve frozen it since November 2018 due to some payment difficulties on our side. Their customer service has been great from this point of view.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Communication is the first thing that stands out about a provider we don’t know, and it’s what amazed me about Adexin every time. With the software companies I’ve previously worked with, I couldn’t even understand what people were saying to me, but it was totally different here. It was easy for me to communicate every small detail to Adexin, and we knew of every single step they were taking. 

Work-wise, there was no pressure from their end. Most of the work was done faster than we had planned. I’ve been a bit worried about working with companies outside of Finland, but everything has gone really, really well. Adexin gets five stars from me all the way. 

How did Adexin perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team worked ahead of schedule at times and were flexible when our company faced issues. There was an instance when we needed to stop development for one week, and they were fine with that. Adexin’s customer service is amazing. We mainly use WhatsApp for communication, though we’ve also used Skype once or twice.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Adexin is perfect at what they do, whether its project- or communication-related.

What challenge were you trying to address with Adexin?

I needed help with multiple development projects for several of my clients.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I was approached by someone from Israel with an idea regarding a service for allowing people to participate in sports events. With the help of Adexin, we were able to make it happen and turn it into a final product in about three to four months.

The second project I hired them for was to build native applications for publishers. Their main task was to create an engine for native apps that would allow content publishers to escape the clutches of Facebook. This project also took three to four months to complete.

I’ve used Adexin on several occasions as an offshore company to help me finish milestones on time and hit a few deadlines.

One of our customers’ whole system is on the Microsoft stack, and finding the right talent for this is becoming harder and harder. I approached Adexin again, and they were able to help me with fulfilling this project. I used them for three or four weeks for this particular task, which required significant changes in the backend of a Microsoft technology-based stack.

On the first project, there were four developers and a manager involved. For the second project, I used two or three developers and a manager. For the last project, I worked directly with the developer.

They have a representative in Israel that’s a close friend of mine. He made contact with us, and we did a few small test projects for a few websites to make sure we got along. Everything went well, and we moved onto larger projects together.

We started working together five or six years ago. I approach them anytime I have something they can help me with.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They finished the first project on time, within budget, and without any arguments, which was a nice accomplishment. I was happy with the results of the native apps they created for me. Also, some of the models they built are still being used today. Furthermore, the product of the third project is still alive.

How did Adexin perform from a project management standpoint?

They are very attentive and responsive. When we first started working together, they were a bit inexperienced, so we worked together to set up the basic workflows and QA cycles. We used Jira to communicate. They seem to have matured quite nicely since we started working together. For the later projects, they acted very professionally.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re agile and very widespread, which is their main strength. They deal with native mobile development, backend, big data, JavaScript, content creation, etc. I would definitely work with Adexin again and again.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They should invest a little in improving their English skills. Communication has never been an actual problem, but it’s apparent that’s it’s not one of their strengths.

Just hire them.

Adexin handled every part of the project, from graphic design to development. They built the platform according to our requirements. Some of the features they implemented allow for users to take selfies, modify images, share content on social media, and make in-app purchases. Their team also developed a dashboard so we can control content within the app.

Additionally, Adexin created an emoji of the player’s face for users to have on their keyboard. Their team also incorporated stickers that can be used on WhatsApp and iMessage.

We primarily spoke through WhatsApp, email, and phone calls. We used spreadsheets to keep track of the progress and they perfectly scheduled the work.

Their level of organization and commitment to the project stand out. When developing an app, these are the most important qualities to us because we’ve worked with other companies that weren’t like Adexin.

We wanted Android and iOS apps that would link to our web portal and streamline billing and delivery information for our users.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed Android and iOS apps with online payment integration along with proofs of delivery (POD) and rate confirmations. The POD is tied to the rate on a button that comes back to our end of the portal.

We’re just now ready to begin a large-scale market rollout of our product, but we do have some success stories already. We brought in two customers through local advertising as a test of our product, and those two customers have by referral brought in an additional seven.

We’ve had a few miscommunications along the way, but we’ve never had any issues with responsiveness. Our progress has been timely and cost-efficient.

They accommodate the long and unusual hours that I prefer to work, and they’ll respond to me on a Saturday or Sunday evening. We have an understanding that it’s not a 9 to 5 situation.

We had some miscommunications on the frontend because we didn’t document our expectations well enough. I take responsibility for that, but now I go through exactly what I’m looking to do.

It connects to the internal airport systems and obtains the information about flights. Everything was done very quickly and professionally. The airport is using the app and they’re happy with it. It was an important, large project for us as it was a new collaboration with a very large client. Since this was a success, it gave us the opportunity for further projects in the future.

The project management was good. We were in close contact through Skype and were always connected, even on the weekends.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re reliable, which impresses me. It’s very rare to find a partner who shares the presale. It took around six months, during which we had to show different designs of the application and financial models of the project. The client wanted to know everything so Adexin spent a lot of time helping us sell it.

Their COO took vacation during the project but was still on our messages and chats every day, and also looking at the code.

I’m the Founder and CEO of Rentmania Oy. Rentmania We’re a peer-to-peer rental marketplace that offers goods on demand.

We wanted to create a platform where users could rent items to each other.

What were your goals for this project?

Our platform allows users to rent out items they own but aren’t using much, so we wanted to allow as many people as possible to connect through our service.  At the same time, we also wanted to establish ourselves as a regulator of this kind of market.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We received a recommendation from another company that had worked with Adexin. They assured us that we’d be able to get a high-performance app with complex functionalities.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

They provided all of our software development services, starting from implementation. They used Ruby on Rails to build the app for us and performed development, testing, and installation.

What was the team composition?

We worked with their CTO and two full-stack programmers.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We’ve seen tremendous growth in our product as a result of their help. We attracted significant investments in the project between 2014–2016. The Internet Initiatives Development Fund gave us 1.4 million rubles in exchange for a 7% stake in the company. We were also a finalist in the GenerationS contest and received a grant for 1 million rubles from the Bortnik Foundation. A Finnish company that supports startups chose us for a five-week program. In May 2016, our founders bought back the stakes in the company and attracted independent donations. Our platform is now available in Moscow and we plan to expand its reach.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Our communication strategy was very efficient and their whole team collaborated well. Their CTO guided technical strategy, gave great recommendations regarding the system architecture, and was a team player.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They delivered us a fully-functioning system despite our limited budget and tight timeline. Any technical issues that came up were resolved quickly. Communication and delivery were not only smooth but also enjoyable. They cared about our goals and priorities, and provided superior support even during difficult times.

It would be great if they could also provide SEO for web projects.
