Features of budget management application saved $75,000 in overspending. The team's productivity increased dramatically, effectively managing 40 more projects than previously.

No, this was an excellent experience, and we are still working with them now. We intend to collaborate with them on another significant product enhancement in the future.

We didn’t have a tech background, so we needed someone to develop the platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had an NDA and a contract for what the whole process would look like. We didn’t provide Blockchain Technologies with any examples, so they came up with the platform just from what we told them. They brought it to life from their side.

Initially, we had Zoom calls to discuss the requirements. We broke the project into four phases; the first one what to scope out the initial need for the platform and what it would look like. The next one was the UI; they went in and made all the changes. We reviewed it and made more changes, going back and forth a couple of times. Then, we implemented AWS into the system to make it a cloud-based platform.

The next step will be developing the backend, and we also need a mobile-friendly option.

Sam (CEO) is our main point of contact, and we have three people on the team altogether.

I posted an advert on Airtasker to get advice on creating the platform. Blockchain Technologies responded, and it seemed like working with them would be a great option for our needs. We initially chatted because we weren’t sure what it’d look like. In the end, the more they talked about their services and what they could help us with, the more we bought into the idea of starting the project.

We started working with them in July 2022, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We don’t have much to measure yet, but they’re quick and efficient in making the changes we want. The team has understood the assignment and what we’re trying to achieve. They’ve even helped us by giving us ideas from their perspective. Overall, they’ve done a great job and helped us bring our vision to life.

How did Blockchain Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

We haven’t had issues with deadlines; they’re swift. Also, we’re not in a massive rush to get it completed. They tell us about the project’s progress through email and organize Zoom calls to talk us through the changes.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their transparency is outstanding. We can say anything to them, and it’s absolutely fine. They take on anything we want, and it’s easy to make it work. Blockchain Technologies has never said they can’t do something for us. We just let them know our requirements, and they go on and do it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Communication can be a bit hard due to our accents. I’m from Scotland, and my partner is from South Africa; we live in Australia, and a lot of Blockchain Technologies’ team is in India. When we try to explain something, sometimes it takes a bit longer to understand, but it isn’t an issue.

Other than that, we don’t have anything to improve at this stage. It has been a pretty straightforward process.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a plan ready to go. We didn’t have a business case or a plan, so we weren’t that organized. We just decided to post an ad to get some advice, and it became something more, so we had to bounce off each other.

Nonetheless, you don’t have to worry much about the details. Blockchain Technologies will work with you — having a plan just makes it more seamless. Sometimes people panic and think they have to have everything ticked off and done perfectly before they can start something, but with Blockchain Technologies, you don’t have to be at that stage. You can go with the flow and make changes as you go.

What challenge were you trying to address with Blockchain Technologies?

​​We were looking to develop an interactive mobile application that could connect to our website, so our members could access information from their phones.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we didn’t have a clear project scope, so we relied on Blockchain Technologies to help us workshop a plan. We met to discuss our goals and shared our printed informational booklet for them to use as the basis for the application. Blockchain Technologies also suggested features to enhance the UX during our brainstorming sessions. Then, they defined the project requirements and created a few different concepts. 

Once we approved the concept that aligned most with our vision, Blockchain Technologies built the mobile application. We’ve gone through three product releases and encountered a few bugs and database problems, which we’ve tracked in a Word document. During our thorough review meetings, we discuss the issues, and the team fixes them before the following release. 

The application is called Next Event; it’s an event management platform that we use for our athletic events. We run about 20 events throughout the summer, each with about 600 participants. Users can download the app and create profiles to keep track of races, view results, and access live data. 

The app displays race outcomes as they happen, so our members can click the results tab to view outcomes in real time. The team also built a history tab that shares information about each race. The Blockchain Technologies team has also programmed the application to support transactions so users can make purchases directly through the app.

Blockchain Technologies has also developed a feature that enables sponsors to feature their businesses within the application and allows us to track user clicks and engagement with their advertising.

We found Blockchain Technologies while searching for developers on Google. We reviewed their experience and found they had expertise connecting with live databases. We acquired quotes from 4–5 companies, and Blockchain Technologies submitted the most comprehensive outline, so we chose to move forward.

We’ve invested about $20,000 in the project with Blockchain Technologies.

We began working with Blockchain Technologies in January 2022, and the project is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Blockchain Technologies has been instrumental in taking the ideas that lived in our heads and translating them into precise requirements. 

They’ve produced an impressive UI, and the application looks professional and high-quality. The app is also user-friendly, which I attribute to their unique ideas during our brainstorming sessions. They’ve implemented features we hadn’t thought of before, which have positively affected the UX.

They’ve completed the deliverables, but we’re currently testing the application since we don’t have any events until later in the year. Blockchain Technologies has been making adjustments and tweaking things to make the application the best it can be prior to our events. They’ve managed the review process really efficiently and promptly taken care of any bugs. We have about 600 users at the moment, but we anticipate more app downloads after our next event.

Before working with Blockchain Technologies, we printed informational booklets for our members, which took a long time to organize. Since we used physical booklets, there was a significant lag between when we published the booklet and the event itself, leading to inaccuracies. Now that we have the app, we can update our members in real time, which we’re excited about.

How did Blockchain Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

Blockchain Technologies has performed well from a project management perspective, although most of the project has been driven by our team. They’ve executed deliverables on time and within budget. We’ve typically organized timelines and sometimes even held them up because they work so quickly. I’ve been amazed by how quickly they’ve accomplished things. 

Since we’re not as experienced with the development process, Blockchain Technologies has had to wait on us, which has resulted in pushing out the end date. For example, during the testing phase, we asked for more time to gather additional feedback from our users, but the Blockchain Technologies team was flexible with us. 

We typically communicate via email and Zoom meetings, so we can easily share our screens. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed with their innovative ideas during the brainstorming sessions. Instead of taking our ideas at face value, they made valuable suggestions and worked hard to create a user-friendly product.

Additionally, we’ve been pleased with their customer service. They’ve been very responsive and available partners. Since we’re a nonprofit organization, getting all our team members on a call can be difficult, but Blockchain Technologies is always willing to jump on a Zoom call with 24 hours notice.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Since we’ve led most of the project, Blockchain Technologies could improve by creating a more comprehensive and technical project management document. It would be great if they could share additional context around the inner workings of the data architecture and how functions connect within the application.

I advise setting clear expectations for communication. Blockchain Technologies is very responsive and works quickly, so be transparent about how quickly you can accomplish tasks and get them what they need. Set clear timelines upfront so that they can match your pace.

We’re currently using them for hosting and maintenance. They work on updates for the iOS and Android apps.

The app showcases the quality of their work. Moreover, we’ve been selling well since we’ve been live. People pay for the app, and we get a commission.

How did Blockchain Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very professional, and their business practices were excellent. Blockchain  Technologies was swift; if they gave a deadline, they stuck to it. We didn’t have any bones to pick.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were very efficient; there weren’t any delays, and they did everything they said they would. Also, they were cheaper than everyone else that had contacted us. We thought that might affect the potential of what they could offer us, but it wasn’t the case.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not really. The only inconvenience was that they were in a different country, so the time zones were different. However, they worked around the clock and went above and beyond to make things easier for us.

Just try them. I recommend them all the time because they’re the best at what they do.

We were trying to simplify the use of P2P banking with cryptocurrency and utilize it on a daily basis — our main objective was to make it accessible to everyone.

Blockchain Technologies has been helping us create a website where people can purchase flights, accommodations, and other services through our blockchain technology. They’re also working on another digital wallet project where people can keep their cryptocurrencies in one place. Lastly, the other project is a clothing brand that we’re trying to run through the Binance blockchain, where users can buy high-end clothing at a discounted rate.

We’ve been working directly with two members of their team, including Sam (CEO). There’s also a team of 10–15 people working behind the scenes.

I found their website online. I chose them because they’re honest, friendly, cost-efficient, easygoing, and timely — they ticked all the boxes I was looking for.

We were trying to formalize our business process through an app to increase our efficiency. We also wanted our doctors to have a little bit more direct interaction with patients.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Blockchain Technologies organized a seven-step milestone project. We’re now in the fourth milestone and everything is mostly developed now. Their deliverables are mostly related to Android, iOS, and the website.

An example of the key features and functionalities include an online scheduling tool for doctors. The app could also record data of all of the bookings and it was connected to an administrative system that could be controlled from an office. We’re now planning to talk about marketing and strategy, and we’re likely to keep them for maintenance of our app, too.

I work with three people from their team, but we have a main point of contact who’s in charge of setting up the milestones. I'm not exactly sure about his exact position, but he functions similar to a manager, administrative person, and technical person. We’re also working with their technical support in charge of minor tasks.

We began our partnership in June 2021, and we’re still working together.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I measure their success based on the milestone review. Every time they complete a milestone, we’d go and review their progress. In connection with that, they’ve been successful at every milestone we’ve had. They always include the changes we suggest. More importantly, I’m using the app now and it has made everything efficient for us.

How did Blockchain Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been able to stick with our budget, and they’re good at meeting deadlines 95% of the time. We’ve had some delays because of the App Store and Play Store, but that’s part of the job. We typically communicate with them via email, phone calls, and text. In one instance, I saw a glitch in our app, and they fixed it very quickly even though it didn't really disable our app; within 2–3 days, everything was sorted out.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're very organized, quick, and robust, and they communicate very well. I’m never left wondering because they’re always very clear about their status and what our next steps will be. Above all, they’re always open to making changes.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They should consider formalizing the handover process. They can do that by incorporating all the services and handing them over all at once instead of giving one component at a time.

Just be yourself and tell them exactly what you want. They're very good at absorbing ideas and making what you want into a reality.

The NFT auction platform successfully raised significant funds by auctioning off all of the top 20 premium NFTs. The number of DAI and MATIC transactions increased significantly. ChainLink VRF integration ensured transparent and random auctions, which increased user trust. User engagement was great, with the leaderboard and bid history features contributing to a significant rise in active participants.
