I’m the CFO and COO of Singerman Real Estate, an investment firm specializing in complex real estate transactions. We invest in both debt and equity across major and secondary property types to maximize risk-adjusted returns.

We initially hired Campfire Digital to manage an existing website. Then, because of their great customer service, we asked them to start over and create a new site for us. We needed the site to be improved to better showcase who we were to potential partners, investors, and the real estate world.

Campfire Digital was charged with designing the site through a template-based approach (for cost purposes as opposed to bespoke). The team provided us with options to select, and after we provided the copy for the various pages, Campfire Digital laid it out to a finished product. The team worked with us on editing prior to publishing. In addition to design and layout, Campfire Digital also handles ongoing maintenance.

Campfire Digital delivered new versions with updates included. We immediately received positive feedback from potential partners. We weren’t concerned with traffic volume, just that those who were searching for us found what they were looking for.

Campfire Digital produced 2 new landing pages that aligned with our existing web design (which they built in a previous project). The landing pages included new elements and utilized new plugins that allow us greater functionality in maintaining our website. They listened to our needs and wants, helped us make design decisions to meet our goals, and then produced the landing pages quickly within their estimated budget.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Although it just launched, our highly specific, niche market has already responded to the first of the two landing pages with appointments booked (the second landing page goes live any minute).

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, Campfire Digital revamped our website using WordPress. Since then, the team has handled monthly website backup and maintenance. Additionally, Campfire Digital has also done a second website revamp and helped me with a couple of copywriting assignments. A graphic designer and a copywriter from Campfire Digital have helped me design a couple of brochures in line with our brand.

I primarily work with Dan and Jeff, with Dan being my primary point of contact. I’ve also worked with other people, including graphic designers and a copywriter.

How did you come to work with Campfire Digital?

A friend of one of the graphic designers I work with recommended Campfire Digital. I’ve worked with the graphic designer for many years, so I trusted her recommendation. I looked at Campfire Digital’s website, and they seemed perfect for us. We’re a professional service provider, so we needed a particular niche type of website. I saw that Campfire Digital had done similar things, so I went with them. Additionally, they mentioned being awarded at Clutch, which was meaningful to me.

We started working together in June 2016, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve had an increase in inquiries through the website for our services. We have a good follow-through for our limited type of services. We don’t expect to have huge numbers of visitors to our website, but we have a good number.

Campfire Digital does nice work — it’s very clean and professional-looking. Their work is top-quality. Other companies within our group have indicated that they think our site looks very professional. Moreover, all the Campfire Digital teammates who have been assigned to my project are always top-level.

How did Campfire Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re always on time and get things done when they say they will. They work with any schedule and set a realistic timeline. Even if it takes longer and I ask for more, they never charge me more. They stick with the original budget unless it’s a major change of scope, in which case we've been aware there will be a budget increase. 

We tend to use email and Zoom. I work with too many platforms, and Campfire Digital works around my limitations. 

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Dan is the best — he’s always there for me. He’s dealt with our parent company and any issues we have. He’s always willing to hop on the phone or talk to our parent company, who can make things challenging sometimes because of their IT requirements. Overall, Dan is phenomenal.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m a jack of all trades, so I do all kinds of things. I’m overwhelmed at times, and Dan is very understanding. If I can’t meet deadlines that we’ve set or if things take a bit longer, he works with me and doesn’t make me feel guilty, which is wonderful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There's nothing they need to improve; they’ve really met our needs.

The work they’ve done makes it feel like our content marketing is on autopilot, which takes pressure off our team. They’ve added depth to our website, which helps us strongly portray our brand image. We’ve been delighted with everything Campfire Digital has produced for us.

Can you share any statistics or metrics that speak to the quality of their work and impact of the engagement?

It's an ongoing process, but our numbers appear to be heading in the right direction. We’ve been with Campfire twice as long as we were with our previous SEO partner. We don't plan to make any changes as long as things continue moving upward.

While other vendors “say” they care about their clients, Campfire demonstrates it in every way possible. Their communication is excellent and consistent on all fronts, especially from Jeff.

Nobody’s perfect. We all have our gaps, but what’s important is how we address those gaps. Campfire's responsiveness and communication have allowed us to move in the right direction from day one.

Campfire Digital developed and coded the engine of our SaaS that integrates into our web presence. They built the entire public-facing site and designed both the functional and aesthetic components. In the beginning, we had a meeting about what my goals were and to figure out what I needed in order to achieve them. Then, Campfire Digital created a “sandbox” to test ideas and receive feedback. We helped each other stay on track in meeting deadlines and they gave us business consulting advice throughout the process.

What was the team composition?

I’m unsure how many people worked on the site development because I only worked with our project contact. My team worked on editing and providing feedback to the team when needed.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We haven’t seen any economic effects yet, as the project wrapped up very recently. We now have a finished package of digital marketing products. With this, we can begin to roll out our rebranding campaign and begin a season of more thorough marketing.

I only dealt with one project manager who continued to produce good work, so it was very effective.

Their experience, confidence, and adaptability kept me assured that my project was being completed according to plan. I've come to trust and rely on their work completely.

I'm the director of marketing at Empire Music Ventures, and we produce music festivals.

What challenge were you trying to address with Campfire Digital?

Our challenge was finding a social media team that understood how music festivals worked. They needed to be able to market the festival to generate additional ticket sales, and build up our social media base.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Campfire was tasked to build our social network out by adding followers to Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. They were also tasked with developing the posts that go on all three social media networks.

Campfire was responsible for our ad budget in boosting our ads on social networks. And they were also in charge of content development and submitting emails to our email list, as well as helping us build that list.

What is the team dynamic?

They have a team, whereas a lot of social media companies are just one person. I think that makes a difference.

How did you come to work with Campfire Digital?

We had used two other companies in the two years prior, but they weren't effective. I discovered Campfire Digital while researching social media options. They did social for another music festival that I was familiar with, and that's why I chose to give them a call and have them initiate a proposal to work together. We were looking at two or three agencies, but ultimately selected Campfire.

Campfire did the social media for Kaaboo, a new music festival. I saw all the social media that had come out of that first event and I was impressed with it. When I discovered they were the company that initiated that first year of Kaaboo, I knew that they had music festival experience.

When did you start working with them, and what is the status of this engagement?

They did the social for us on Rhythm, Wine, and Brews Experience in March. We just hired them again to do our new music festival, and they're working with us right now on a new music festival. Basically, they'll be doing two festivals for us a year.

How much have you invested with them?

They range from $1,500-2,000 a month for their services.

The one thing that stood out to me is that a lot of the other social media companies we'd worked with did not push for us to put an ad budget in for social, which was interesting because that's one of the best ways to grow your social network and sell tickets. Campfire did. It's a big difference.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They helped grow our social network, and you could see the numbers grow. We had a huge jump in engagement and comments. People tagging and sharing. Those things took off. It was huge.

How did Campfire perform from a project management standpoint?

They've always met all the deadlines and expectations. Even when I bring something in last minute, they jump right on it. They're great at communicating.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their level of experience in our industry has made a big difference. They jump in and get to know your event or your product. When they put their posts together, it's obvious they've done their research, and they contribute good content without making me provide it all for them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We have an event that takes place on the weekends and in California, and they're in Colorado. In the past, we’ve had our social team come out and be there day of show, but because of logistics, Campfire is not able to do that. But they have been willing to be available on the weekends and work overtime as needed to post for me, if I can get them the photos they need. We've been able to work out a solution. It's not something that they can change or fix, really.
