I’m the CEO and founder of Agile Consent. We provide an end-to-end electronic process that uses mobile devices and electronic medical record integration to provide an efficient, high-quality, and customizable consenting experience for patients, thus eliminating the need for a paper-based procedure.

What challenge were you trying to address with Enozom Software?

We needed to reduce our development costs and meet our deadlines with an agile and iterative approach. We wanted to add more features to the product, but, at the same time, meet the individual demands of our customers.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Enozom works on adding new features to our product, handling custom end-to-end development. We provide the requirements, documentation, screenshots, and so on, which they take and separate into stories that are entered into the developer portal. They assign developers to the sprints, create the code, and release it to our user-acceptance testing team in the U.S.

We work together to close any gaps we identify. Enozom also helps us with the deployment into production and with some smoke testing. This includes troubleshooting issues in production or non-production environments, performance tuning, architectural design, and end-to-end performance and functional testing.

The technologies used have mostly been from the Microsoft stack, including .NET and C#. We also use AngularJS and SQL Server.

What is the team composition?

They’ve allocated project managers, account managers, and lead developers. The team size fluctuates; it can go as high as six to seven people but the average is between three and four.

Even though there's someone in place who handles the account, I have direct access to the resources, which is great for alleviating bottlenecks and for getting fresh ideas from the team members.

How did you come to work with Enozom Software?

I had worked with their CEO at another company. I considered two other vendors but chose Enozom based on their maturity. They had a good 10 years under their belt, doing exactly what we were looking for. They were willing to allocate dedicated team members, and the quality of those members was high. Their experience, methodology, and pricing model seemed to be a better fit for us.

How much have you invested with them?

I believe the cost was around $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Enozom in April 2016. We’re still working together on new features, but the bulk of the work was delivered by July 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our number of consents has been increasing every month, which not only shows that our existing users love the product, but also that we’re able to increase the user base.

The amount of features that we provide is also growing. This means that we've been able to stabilize the number of new releases we make and add new features to each. While there are some bugs with each release, the number has been under control thanks to Enozom's good regression testing.

How did Enozom Software perform from a project management standpoint?

Overall, project management has been consistent and productive. They conduct peer reviews and there’s always more than one person responsible for any one piece of code. The load balancing between different team members helps when it comes to meeting deadlines and making sure that we have the capacity to handle surprises, be they additional requests or changes in the existing demand.

We have regular checkpoints between the project manager, the technical lead, and the account manager. We also have a Google Hangouts group where we address quick questions, and use Team Foundation Server to manage the stories and workloads.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They invest time, money, and effort into understanding the business. They’ve been willing to go out of their comfort zone and into areas like UI/UX, functional testing, deployments, and regression testing. They’ve slowly acquired more responsibilities and we’re confident that they know what it takes to maintain and grow the business.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could expand their involvement with cloud technologies, growing and learning how to use more services in the space. Enozom could also invest in learning technologies specifically related to healthcare, like electronic medical records. Unfortunately, solutions in this space are not as open as ones in the e-commerce domain, for example. Enozom is working on this, but it would be great if they could speed it up.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Get to know the team members well and take time to explain everything, including the problem and challenges. This will help the developers better understand the parameters they’re working with and communicate better.

What challenge were you trying to address with Enozom Software?

We were building a web platform and app to better serve our users. We had an idea, and we were starting from the very beginning of how we could get it developed.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Enozom Software was responsible for all visual designs and software implementation. They provided developers and offered design feedback and problem-solving so that the platform included all of our desired functionalities. We are building the platform using .NET framework and Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services. We also have an app that includes AI and a machine learning component, and we are integrating a wearable device built by another vendor. Enozom has been supportive of the collaboration with our other development team.

What is the team composition?

We have worked with their CEO and senior developers and engineers, a UX manager, and other designers and developers.

How did you come to work with Enozom Software?

I explored several local options, but a colleague recommended Enozom Software instead.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our partnership began in April 2017, and it is ongoing. I plan to continue using them beyond this introductory phase of development. I want them as one of our primary development teams.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We are anticipating a launch in the coming months, but feedback regarding the platform’s functions and UX during demos have been overwhelmingly positive. At this point, we consider the platform successful, and it works as we envisioned it.

How did Enozom Software perform from a project management standpoint?

In addition to the product development, they were responsible for supporting project management. We meet weekly, and we talk almost daily, but they worked well with little supervision—I only ensured that they had the tools they needed. Enozom also coordinated well with our second development team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciate the working relationship we have developed, and the concern Enozom has over our project. They have taken an interest in the work being done, and they work hard to make sure that we are getting what we envisioned. They provide us with options for different elements, and if one doesn’t work, they offer alternates. They were also mindful of our consumption of resources and measures we could take to optimize the design. I wasn’t paying much attention to that day-to-day, but they watch out for those things. This is the reason why—beyond the basic platform development and the MVP—we have plans to engage them for the duration of the work itself, in terms of scaling up. We’re going to stick with them for the long haul.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Future clients will have to be patient while navigating time zone changes, if applicable. We have a Sunday-Thursday schedule, which works to our advantage because they’ll have made progress come Monday morning, but that was one part of our relationship that had to evolve.

I search through Yellow Pages and found them. I called their CEO and discussed the project, then had several interviews and discussions over Skype. Finally, we met in-person and finalized the details.

The provided different designs, including for the website, all of the app’s different pages, and payment options. We started with the iOS version and then later worked on the Android.

There were three people involved in the project: one software engineer as a team leader and two developers. I asked to increase the team to complete the work faster and they did.

What I wanted to achieve, we did. The app design exceeded my expectations.
