We had to negotiate on fees at first, since they like to be the only one sourcing candidates and for that there is a lower fee, but we already had the search out with other firms. At the end of the day, we found a win-win scenario.

They took a managed approach to identifying all of the requirements we had for the role and then presenting us with a short list of candidates to review. Once we decided on a candidate to hire, they are acting rather like a temp position staffing company where they send us an invoice and we pay it. All of the background stuff and International stuff is handled by them.

They made the whole process very easy and waled us through everything. I suppose having clear requirements upfront is good, though they'll get those established via a few web meetings anyway.

They do charge a recurring fee that you'll be paying for the entire time you are working with one of their placed people... unless you opt to "buy out" the contract, which amounts to paying for the fee for a year. It gave me pause because I thought you had to make that decision up front and hope the person works out if you want to pay the fee upfront. Turns out you can go a few months and then do the "buy out" - problem solved.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Hire With Near could have done differently?

A little more transpareny on the placement fees would be good but I found that info searching for reviews.
