We needed an app to manage available shifts for our locum staff. Due to the specific nature of how we internally facilitated this, we needed something custom and not off the shelf.

What was the scope of work with IIH Global?

IIH Global delivered an app available in both Apple and Google stores. Users can log in to see available shifts and manage their own shifts and profiles. We then have a backend management system to facilitate all the functions we have internally. Features include a custom form, uploading compliance documents, shift verification, shift cancellation, exporting data, and reporting.

We worked with three teammates from IIH Global.

We found IIH Global through a referral from a friend. We chose them over other options because of cost, and they also seemed to be the most agile.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with IIH Global from October 2024–May 2025. However, we are currently in talks for the next development phase.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

IIH Global delivered a great product. There are still some future developments we have mapped out, but the product is functional in our business and has been adopted well. We’ve made efficiency improvements, and our reporting has improved greatly. We’ve also noticed positive user engagement.

How did IIH Global perform from a project management standpoint?

Overall, IIH Global was very responsive. The team was slightly late in delivering, but they were extremely responsive to feedback and development needs. Communication and collaboration started off challenging, but once we got into a flow and Sanjay took the overall lead, the project was executed very well, with massive improvements in the project delivery. The speed and communication of completing tasks were a challenge at first. We communicated via Microsoft Teams and emails. They constantly showed development changes and updates

• Analysis
  • After the request is received and assigned, an analyst investigates the requirements in detail and schedules a meeting with the requestor to learn what data is kept, how it is processed, what information is produced, and how that information is used. 
  • After the facts are gathered the analyst evaluates the solutions, determines which planning methodology should be used, and accepts or rejects the request.  
• Design
  • The first step in the design process is to implement the hardware and software environment as required. A separate environment from the production environment is established for development and testing by the technical team. 
  • Another environment is also established for the functional users for their testing once the technical team releases the changes for functional testing. 
  • System design documents and specifications are developed based on the requirements agreed to by the technical and functional users. Directories are created to store the developed programs and reports.
  • Based on the specifications and established naming conventions, the technical team creates new tables, screens/pages and data elements. 
  • The technical team develops a database schema listing the table names, field names within the tables, field size, field type, key fields, what information the field will contain and how it relates to other fields. 
  • The technical team also develops page layouts to show how the page will look to the user. They will further explain the table name, field name that goes in each field on the screen, what functions (ADD, CHANGE, DELETE, CORRECT) are to be allowed on the screen and how each field is to be handled (editing, lookup, default).

• Development (Coding)
  • Each process is developed according to the specifications received by the technical team. This involves designing and coding programs and subprograms and creating tables and data elements. 
  • Based on the process the test scenarios will be developed by the technical team for unit testing. Output from each process is checked thoroughly before releasing it to the functional users for testing.  
• Testing
  • Testing is an important component to ensure that a quality product is delivered to the end users. The basic components that must be tested are programming modifications requested by the user and modifications made to support the mission critical Software. 
  • Both types of changes require testing of the individual modification as well as proper integration and incorporation within the scope of the enterprise wide system. These changes need to be applied and tested within a test environment before they are released to the users for functional testing and acceptance.   
  • The following are the types of tests needed to support the overall testing strategy:   
    • Unit Test  
    • User Test and Acceptance  
  • Unit Test:
    • The objective of the Unit Test is to ensure that the enhancement meets functional and technical design requirements of the requestor and that all transactions, database updates, and functionality flow accurately. This testing phase ensures the data and unit integrity of all system enhancements. 
    • Units that are not modified or affected in any way by an update/enhancement are not tested during this phase.   The Programmer responsible for developing/applying the changes will design the unit test cases after the development effort which:
      • > Provides coverage for all the identified functions and logic paths. 
      • > Considers all normal, unexpected, and error I/O conditions.   Data for this test is limited in quantity, but should be created by the programmer and designed to exercise all conditions handled by the programs.
    • Programmer(s) will conduct individual unit test(s). Each test case will be created on an as needed basis based on the conditions to be tested and the expected results. These conditions are defined by the functional requirements.  These test cases will be developed documented including: 
      • a) Conditions to be tested. 
      • b) The expected results to be demonstrated.  
  • User and Acceptance Test:
    • The User and Acceptance Test are performed after the completion of all Software enhancements. It is driven by the business functions of an organization. These are the continuous (and contiguous) set of activities within an organization that ensure that the organization accomplishes its objectives. 
    • The goal is to make sure that the system(s) performs as expected across all business functions and departments.  
    • Whereas the Unit Test focuses on Unit affected by enhancements to the system, the User Test and Acceptance Test focuses across all departments, whether modified or not. This test will:
      • a) Test the functionality
      • b) Ensure that all basic business transactions operate as defined by  the functional requirements
      • c) Test system configuration settings  
  • The main objective is to be reasonably assured that the Software systems are ready to be used in the production environment. The focal point is to test that the system functions as designed. These test cases must be defined prior to performing the system test.   User test case designs describe the details of the business process including the following information:
    • ~ Conditions to be tested
    • ~ Test preparation (prerequisites)
    • ~ Execution procedures and Expected results
    • ~ Action taken (in case of failure)

  • The test scenarios are created by the Functional users (Business Analyst). If required the Technical Team assists the Business Analyst in developing these scenarios. Each scenario is tested by the functional users. The failure of a scenario or part of a scenario requires the technical team to retest the entire process.

  • After completion of testing, we will deploy the Mobile application LIVE on Google play and iTunes store.

Thanks to IIH Global Limited, we now have a website we like and feel comfortable with, which is something that will pay off over the next few years. Still, the new website has been immediately impactful because people are now able to see us and go to a website we feel comfortable with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Although I'm sure there are areas for improvement, I haven't noticed them. As far as I understand, the development team is in India, so we've experienced small delays, but those were caused by the time zone difference. Still, no changes are needed, as we've gotten great service.

Things would have gone quicker if we had had a better idea of what we wanted initially. It's always helpful to have a clear idea of your needs in mind. IIH Global Limited is great at offering solutions, but your project can go quicker if you provide them with very specific instructions to reduce the amount of back and forth needed.

Our business was growing, and many of our processes were very manual, so I wanted to design an app to scale my business efficiently.

What was the scope of their involvement?

IIH Global Limited provides Android and iOS mobile app development for us. We’ve started the process with face-to-face meetings with them, where I explain how I want the app to work and what I need it to do.

Regarding features, I’ve asked them for a platform where I can book my customers into the best venues in both cities where I work. I also want my customers to be able to monitor their bookings, how much they’re paying, the contact details, and the booking dates.

We’re currently making changes and adding new venues to the app. The team has also advised me to add features like Apple Pay and Google Pay to the platform because they’re becoming very popular.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

IIH Global Limited's work has enabled us to show our customers that we're very professional because now users cannot only get bookings for the best venues in the cities but can also have an application to see what they've booked, the amount they've paid, and the time they're going very easily.

From an internal point of view, the app that IIH Global Limited has created allows me to streamline my processes and avoid spreadsheets or notes. We can all do it through the app's backend if I want to analyze how many customers we have or how much money we've made.

How did IIH Global Limited perform from a project management standpoint?

IIH Global Limited has delivered the work on time and budget. The team has given me access to an application where I can monitor their work to see what part of the app they're working on and the delivery times.

Moreover, IIH Global Limited's response to our change requests is immediate, and the team is always updating me on what's going on in the market and the best practices for our app.

I want to give a shout-out to Chitra, who is the main person I talk to on the development side of IIH Global Limited's team.

What I like the most about IIH Global Limited is that they think outside the box. Technically, they're very good, but whenever I have an issue, they can come up with the right solution based on my business needs because they've quickly understood what I'm trying to do.

As IIH Global Limited is getting bigger, they'll have to employ more people, so for them to be able to keep their services at a higher level, I recommend keeping their staff at the right amount.

Despite IIH Global Limited doing a lot of their development in India, they have a contact person in the UK to whom I speak daily and gives me advice on how everything's looking and if there's something we need to change, which is really important to me. To anybody in the UK working with them, I recommend using their local contact person — that's better than having someone completely remote.
