I’m the CEO of a startup company in San Francisco. We have an online platform to connect our team to customers needing carwash services. People can park their vehicle anywhere, and we will come to them for this service.

What challenge were you trying to address with Prismetric?

I had the idea for this service, but I didn’t have the technical background to implement it. I needed a firm to develop an iOS and Android application to make my idea a reality.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I gave them my requirements in a couple of initial calls. They gave me a full presentation, and they made suggestions to improve on my original idea. It is a location-based service, and the customer provides the location of their car. There is a purchasing element as well. Users can pay by credit or debit card. Prismetric developed native applications for both iOS and Android.

How did you come to work with Prismetric?

I searched for mobile application developers online and narrowed my search down to five firms, then chose Prismetric. I saw that they had over a 4.5 rating with Clutch.

How much have you invested with Prismetric?

I’ve spent $70,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in October of 2016 and is almost finished. We just need to put it on our server.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

I can’t disclose any specific information because I have competitors in the same area. Our application will be on the market in a month or so.

How did Prismetric perform from a project management standpoint?

I was willing to pay more for fast delivery, and I wanted a progress report twice a week. They did that, and they finished within the timeline I gave them. I think they use a project management tool, but I never cared for it, so we communicated through email.

What did you find most impressive about Prismetric?

They delivered the product within the timeline, and the interface is excellent. Their work is very clean.

Are there any areas Prismetric could improve?

Not really. Overall, I’m happy.

What challenge were you trying to address with Prismetric?

We were looking for someone to do the complete development of the application in native iOS and Android, starting with the beta version.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Prismetric came up with a minimum viable product [MVP] that has 3 main features. The first one gives you points when you buy something. We needed it to be a way for a customer to get loyalty rewards and see promotions with Agile utilization. Customers can also interact with their merchants using this app. Second, merchants can add promotions that everyone can see. For example, you can create an informal promotion in your city. It creates a network. Third, when you are active as a merchant, you can get more tools to communicate with your customers. We just built a new tool, a birthday tool, that falls under this category.

Aside from the mobile application, we have a web platform for the union of merchants. My team and I also have access as administrators.

How did you come to work with Prismetric?

I did a search and found about 10 companies. I checked their websites and what they're able to do. After I reached out to them and explained our idea, 5 responded. I gave them detailed technical findings and 3 responded with a summary. I talked with them through Skype and based on their responses, I chose Prismetric.

How much have you invested with Prismetric?

We have spent 20,000 Euros on their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our project started in January 2016. It is still ongoing.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The beta application has worked well with minimal cost. We have signed major clients and we're about to sign another one tonight. Our clients are doing the job of marketing.

How did Prismetric perform from a project management standpoint?

Prismetric is based in India, which I'm familiar with. All the tools they use are very basic and very useful for me. They use Basecamp. They do what I ask, but I'm not very demanding regarding technology. They do basic things and have done pretty well. Even when I ask for changes to something that was completed and paid for months ago, they are able to do that.

What did you find most impressive about Prismetric?

They are a perfect fit for my demands, which can be quite complex. The manager of the project clearly understands where I wanted to go and sees the vision I have. Based on that understanding, he is able to propose improvements for the product.

Are there any areas Prismetric could improve?

None.

We are Hiya, an Internet application for both Android and iOS. It’s a social media app with extra features for international money transfer. I am the founder and CEO of the company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Prismetric?

I had an idea but needed a company that could build it out. I don’t have mobile developers in my firm.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Prismetric developed the app according to my specifications. They built it from scratch and helped me launch it in the stores. We are currently testing it internally and we will launch it later.

How did you come to work with Prismetric?

I made contact with many developers, both online and in person. I found them on Google and visited them in India. During my personal visit to their company, Prismetric came up with all the answers to my questions. We had a great face-to-face meeting so I hired them.

How much have you invested with Prismetric?

In total, I paid $210,000 for their services. 

What is the status of this engagement?

The total timeline for the app was 7 months. We finished in September 2016.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

I love the app. I’m still testing it here in Africa but we haven’t calculated quantitative feedback. We did not have any issues during and after the development. They are great to work with and always ready to make necessary changes without extra cost. The results were perfect and I am satisfied with the project.

What challenge were you trying to address with Prismetric?

We hired Prismetric for the prospect of developing an app for our school. It was intended for students and teachers, as well as administration and parents, helping with time management. Our school has a very complicated schedule, and the app was to help us better manage it.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

My daughter designed the app and worked with the developers from Prismetric. She attends the school and was able to make a student-oriented design. The app was primarily meant to convert a 6-day cycle into the 5-day student week, with each day divided into units of time called modules, each with another allotment of time, varying depending upon the needs of the school day. In the case of an assembly, a mod may change by 15-20 minutes for example, and the students wouldn't know what mods they were in just by reading the clock. It's a complicated method, and Prismetric was tasked to convert our day, mod, and activity schedules into one screen.

A second task was giving students an opportunity to have a calendar where they could input individual events, reminders, and tasks. The hope was to allow them not to leave our app in order to check the timeline of their math homework, for example. Reminders could be sent via either email or text message, and users could also share their data with other members of the group.

The third task was creating a data point for all our school's activities. Our app also has a photo feature; there are still paper components of our schedule, so if a student wanted to capture a photo of that, they could do so.

Prismetric also helped us develop a website for people who don't use Android or iOS devices. The site has the same features as our app.

How did you come to work with Prismetric?

I used clutch.co in order to choose 3 companies based on their profiles, including Prismetric. I interviewed them via Skype in order to gauge their strengths, and Prismetric stood out. They included their administrator and developer in the conversation, so it wasn't simply a sales call. We were able to assess if the task was doable and how long it would take, rather than having a sales person say they'd get back to us. Getting so much done within the first meeting swayed us towards Prismetric.

How much have you invested with Prismetric?

The total cost of our project with Prismetric was between $10,000 and $15,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Prismetric in March 2016, and the app was launched in August in time for the start of school. We're still working together for improvements to the app, and we're still in the 6-month debugging period.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We can measure metrics through the app itself. We have 650 students and anywhere around 3,500 views per day for a particular part of the schedule. This number should go up as we continue with the school year. The apps are used regularly throughout the school day, which even surprised us.

How did Prismetric perform from a project management standpoint?

Even with the time difference, we've had ample opportunities to meet with Prismetric at the beginnings or ends of their work days. We communicated through Skype, which made it very easy. If I had a question, I could simply send a message and had opportunities to speak in-depth with Prismetric's team about issues, instead of simply being notified that the issue had been solved.

What did you find most impressive about Prismetric?

We appreciated Prismetric's timelines, approachability to every problem that we had, and ability to listen to our requirements for the app's functionality. Our task was to understand students' needs, getting into their heads and seeing what they wanted the result to be. My daughter ran this show, so Prismetric collaborated with a 17-year-old and took her advice. I was very impressed by Prismetric's ability to come through with every request.

Are there any areas Prismetric could improve?

The time difference has meant that we've had to stay up until late at night or get up early, but we overcame this quickly. We were able to send messages seamlessly over Skype. Other than this, Prismetric was very easy to communicate with.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Prismetric?

I would recommend that clients, especially at the beginning of the process, be open to all the possibilities for their app's functionality. Prismetric can provide the magic needed for getting this done. We were never restricted in terms of app functionality, so as we explored more ideas with Prismetric, it became clear that the app could be more than anyone expected in the beginning.

We were looking for a mix of the right cost and experience. We used a few company assessment portals including Clutch. Based on our findings, we called a few vendors in order to see who would be best. We offered details on our needs and budget, ultimately selecting Prismetric.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together a year ago [2015]. The collaboration is ongoing. We continually offer new projects to Prismetric. We're focusing on expanding the app on the iOS side right now.

The work has been successful. We've learned from each other during the last year. Prismetric has been very supportive and flexible to our requirements.

In terms of user growth, we've been able to reach around 6,000 users for the app. They've generally loved the design and functionality offered. The experience overall has been very positive.

What distinguishes Prismetric Technologies from other providers?

I've appreciated their flexibility. Many times, people get bogged down by the scope of a project, especially when discovering new issues during the building and testing phases. Prismetric has been flexible in terms of allowing us to have a bit of scope creep and working with us in order to do what's best for the product, as opposed to following the letter of the contract. This is the reason for adding new work with them.

Is there anything Prismetric Technologies could have improved or done differently?

Not being able to work with us during United States hours has been their biggest weakness. This is the normal course when dealing with overseas vendors.

We were looking to create an e-commerce application for both iOS and Android, targeting the Middle East and North Africa market. It’s my first application, and I needed to partner with a developer to guide me through the process.

It’s an e-commerce and social network application. We combined the two ideas in one application to target small businesses. The app allows small businesses to sell their products through our app. Prismetric was fully responsible for developing the applications from design through to testing.

How did you come to work with Prismetric?

I found many good companies on Google, and Prismetric was one of them. I chose them based on their online reviews and their portfolio.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The project cost between $10,000 and $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our partnership is ongoing. We started working on this project 7 months ago [May 2015].

The initial feedback is very positive. I don’t have anything tangible that I can share since we have not fully launched the app yet.

How did Prismetric perform from a project management standpoint?

Prismetric was excellent. Their team is very cooperative and hard working. They are very knowledgeable, both in terms of development skills and industry know-how.

What distinguishes Prismetric from other providers?

Since it’s my first project, it’s difficult for me to compare them with others. It’s very hard to find someone who works as hard as them.

Is there anything Prismetric could have improved or done differently?

Nothing comes to mind at the moment.

TellAText, LLC wants to change the way advertisers approach consumers online and through phone.

What is your position?

I am the creator and president of TellAText, LLC.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What business challenge were you trying to address with Prismetric Technologies?

We started our app, TellAText – which is a complicated app to begin with – as a text messaging app with unobtrusive advertising. Intrusive advertising is where it's a forced ad, here you get a banner, or something is forced upon you. People are turned off by forced advertising, and you're driving away the people you're trying to attract.

I wanted to pioneer unobtrusive advertising. We bootstrapped this about three years ago, to try to get a MVP [minimum viable product] launched. When you download the TellAText app – we also have a website that goes along with it – small companies can advertise through our website. We wanted to make it affordable for everybody to advertise, simple, and easy to use.

They can upload images or create their own on the website and, for $50, you get 500 looks, which is 10 cents an ad. When you're on the receiving end of the app, you are sent an unobtrusive logo at the bottom of the text message, and it's up to the user whether they want to tap on that logo to open the ad.

If you tap and open that ad, TellAText rewards you for being a member, 10 percent of whatever that ad costs. The money is added to your TellAText account, and you can use it to pay your cellphone bills, go shopping, et cetera. It's also great for family plans.

The political aspect of our business is important, since politicians have been allowed to use these types of services to raise funds and capital. Politicians use TellAText to do that now. We have a lot of good ideas planned for it, and a lot of good things we hope will come about from TellAText, but it is a very complicated app.

Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

The app they have developed is just for Android right now. We came out with Android, we figured that's the most widely used operating system in the world, so we wanted to get into that market. For design purposes, I have a designer in-house, I've put together a great team to try to take TellAText beyond the goals that we currently have.

How did you come to work with Prismetric Technologies?

We tried to get it developed here in the United States because my team feared outsourcing. I didn't think that was correct, but I needed to listen to my team. We tried two different developing teams here in the U.S., and we ended up firing them both. Neither one of them turned out to do a good job; they just didn't have the talent to do it.

I decided that we should check overseas, I wanted to check out India, I heard great things. We did some research, and found that Prismetric Technologies were highly regarded, so I wanted to try them.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The cost for TellAText to operate and get to the end game would probably be in the $100,000 range. When I approached developers here in the U.S., I got offers from $100,000 to $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The first version of the project was completed on August 1, 2015. We have a budget, and you have to sit there and heed to the budget. We want to add IM [instant messaging] services to the next version, so that we'll also have instant messaging.

We've also become IBM global partners, so that we can try to get some good analytics and big data through them that we can use when we go overseas. We want to be able to distribute this next in the Indian market and other countries overseas. Instant messaging is very popular in other countries, so we want to be able to bring that to foreign users. We want to be in the same area as WhatApp and the other big messaging apps.

If we can get people overseas to get it downloaded, and advertisers jump on board and advertise with us, the mom and pops, even the big companies can advertise with us, anybody can. We're also looking at the swipe-and-pay technology, IBM is going to help us with that. That would be great, too.

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

I've been talking to Prismetric about having them partner with us in India because obviously we don't know the customs, the languages, and the market. They were ecstatic to do it for us. We're happy with them being so helpful.

I couldn't believe how great the service was that Prismetric provided. The cost was significantly less going to India, and it was easy to negotiate with Prismetric. They understood our financial limitations, and they were happy to accommodate. I wouldn't hesitate using Prismetric again, for anything. They're going to have us as a customer for life.

How did Prismetric perform from a project management standpoint?

I can tell you that we were very pleasantly surprised with them, they were total professionals. The fear of having bad communication was unfounded, the fear of going overseas was unfounded – they exceeded our expectations. I was happy with them.

What distinguishes Prismetric from other providers?

Communication was great. Every time I had any questions, they were right there. Anytime they had a question, I helped them. With a lot of the developers here in America, the communication was almost non-existent, and it was hard. With Prismetric, it was almost like I was talking to my neighbor.

Prismetric would be able to take the ideas that I had, and get them done. I would give them five stars all the way. If you're developing something, and you're bootstrapping like I did, do yourself a favor and work with Prismetric. These guys are great. I've talked to a lot of developers in the past three years trying to find somebody to do this project, and they all fell short. If you want something done right, you have to go to Prismetric.

Is there anything Prismetric could have improved or done differently?

No. I don't know how much they can improve on perfection. It was all pretty complicated, and they picked it right up, where others would struggle.

Please describe the scope of their work.

It was mobile app development for iPhone and Android. They went off what the website looks like, but they redesigned it for the apps. The apps are a lot more user friendly than the website.

What was your process for selecting Prismetric with which to work?

I was referred to them by the company that was helping me build my website. 

Can you give a sense of the size of the initiative in dollar terms or a personnel work-hour figure?

It was around $15,000.

The work was completed in late 2014.

People that are testing it out are loving the mobile application. User feedback has been strong and positive overall.

Are you satisfied with their performance?

I’m very satisfied with the work. I’m very excited and happy with the work Prismetric Technologies has done. The design is laid out perfectly.

Is there anything unique or special about Prismetric that really makes them stand out compared to other online marketing companies?

I had concerns about them not being local, but everything worked out great. They were great at returning phone calls and emails. They were very professional and very helpful in building the app. They helped me learn about the technology side.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?

I can’t think of anything.

Please describe your company.

We are Today Publishing, producers of several Iceland travel apps. We hired co-developers to build our apps. One of the companies we work with is Prismetric.

What is your role at the company?

I’m the CEO.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What was your goal for working with Prismetric?

We wanted to take our app development to another stage. We wanted it more up to date, and to work with a company with the newest technology. A project that we were working on needed a CMS [content management system] to control both of our applications. So, it was basically a build-out of the CMS with a database directly connected to our travel app. One feature that they also made for us was the ability to plot routes between places on a map, and to store them natively inside the app.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their work.

They produced two travel-related apps. One is customized for certain travel agencies that we work for, and the other one provides information about tax-free shopping, city guides, and maps. 

We contracted them to do this map of Iceland assignment completely; all elements of it. We wrote the project brief, and we made the storyboards, and they took over. With a description of how it should work, how the CMS should be, and what platform it should be designed on, they took it from there. They had their developers take this on both with the CMS, building up the database, the app making, and the coding, and the designing of the application itself.

What was your process for selecting Prismetric with which to work?

I went to the trade consulates of the embassies here in Iceland. We were looking for these kinds of developers, not necessarily just in India. We looked in America, and Eastern and Western Europe. The trade consulate of the Indian Embassy picked out five Indian companies that he thought were up to the task, and we started to communicate with those five at the end of 2013. We ended up choosing Prismetric out of those five that we started negotiations with.

Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?

It was around $60,000. That’s the price we agreed on, but then we added some features that made it a little more expensive.

How long did the project take, and is the work ongoing?

We started working with Prismetric in March of 2014, but we have been working on this project for a longer time. We started on the database in 2013. One of the projects is done, and we have one that is ongoing. We have a third project on the horizon.

Can you share any results of the work? Did you like the way that it turned out?

Absolutely. Fantastic. They put a lot of heart into this project with us, and they added some features. This kind of technology changes rapidly, and they are very good at implementing new methodologies. They added a lot of things to it that we didn’t think of in the beginning. It was fantastic working with them. It’s a great company to work with, and the communication is very clear. Even though they are in a different time zone, it’s never been a problem. It’s always been really nice, and we are very happy and satisfied with the work and effort they’ve put into these projects.

Is there anything unique about them that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?

There were certain tasks that had never been done before, like making the map that could be stored natively offline. When we started this, we were told that that type of application was not doable, but they figured out a way to do it. That was quite a task they did, and it’s working perfectly.

They are clear in their communication. First and foremost, they’re very nice people. Even though I never met them, it’s very good speaking to them. They have really high-end employees who listen to their clients and execute well.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

No. I’m actually really happy with them in all aspects of the agreement. Everything has been extremely good, and we are very satisfied with their work.
