I’ve dealt with a lot of mobile app development teams over the years, and I can’t say anything bad about RedCat. The only thing may be getting more of an internal collaboration system, as, right now, we’re spread across a number of tools for communication. It doesn’t bother us, and it’s not a dealbreaker.

We were digitizing our multimedia and marketing efforts through social networking and e-commerce, but as an early-stage startup, we struggled to meet deliverables deadlines. We were under a lot of pressure to deliver products on time and within budget, so we engaged RedCat Ltd to provide us with additional resources.

What was the scope of their involvement?

RedCat Ltd provided us with software development resources who helped develop the front- and backend of our e-commerce platform. We gave them the basis for the platform and handled the monolithic part, and they handled the microservices transition using Node.js, Express, and Postgres. 

Additionally, the team exclusively built the frontend using React, CSS, and HTML. They also worked alongside our team to code the backend, which they integrated with AWS. They also used Axios for the REST APIs in the backend. Furthermore, the team managed each project task and shared feedback with us. 

What is the team composition?

We worked with Alexandra (Founder) a project manager, two coders, a junior frontend developer, and a team lead.

How did you come to work with RedCat Ltd? 

Our CEO had been communicating with RedCat Ltd for a while, so when we needed more resources on our team, we reached out to interview their technical team members. They were very skilled and proficient, so we moved forward.

I didn’t handle the invoices for this project, but I believe we spent roughly €20,000 (approximately $20,000 USD).

Thanks to RedCat Ltd, we delivered our products on time and within budget. Our e-commerce platform is now up and running and has had extremely positive results. 

How did RedCat Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

RedCat Ltd managed the project very well; they worked quickly and delivered results on time. Additionally, they were responsive and amenable to our feedback. We had direct contact with the developers, but whenever we needed additional support, we reached out to our project manager, who was always available. 

I was pleasantly surprised by the technical lead, who was also a highly skilled developer. We met daily and weekly via MS Teams and managed tasks via Office 365 tools. We also used GitHub to commit our code and manage more specific tasks and Trello for other things. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed with RedCat Ltd’s expertise. Not only did they follow instructions, but they also gave us important feedback. They shared valuable opinions that helped shape our project and improve our processes.

I know one of the founders from one of the companies we used to work together 7 years ago. So it’s a matter of reputation, trust and cultural fit. However, RedCat was one of a variety of vendors we interviewed.

RedCat initially took the time like a month or so to learn more about my requirements and overall goals for the application. I eventually started working with a project manager, and we broke the work into sprints and moved forward.

The application combines traditional elements of a CRM, Payments, Knowledge base, and several more unique key features. It is developed for iOS on Swift and Node JS, with a web interface for Admin dashboard on React JS and Node JS.

My project manager was my single point of contact, but there were 4 developers working on the project, as well.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The apps for Web and iOS are complete but have yet to be launched as we adjust some things within the iOS application to account for recent changes to Apple’s standards. Once we complete that work, I’m hopeful that we can introduce the apps in the coming weeks.

There were times when they went in a particular direction that wasn’t quite what I was considering, but they were flexible and willing to readjust to my preferences. Too little time has passed since the platform's release, but we can already say that the product is promising. For now, it is a self-sufficient white-label solution. We managed to automate most of the routine tasks of managers and now they manage to do more during the working day. RedCat Ltd is a really expert company which can easily create a complex product as well as help you make the right technical decisions.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had our own internal project deadlines and RedCat Ltd helped us get everything done on time. We had general meetings with the team several times a week to discuss the current situation and learn about the progress. The project manager was always in touch and promptly answered questions.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We worked with real experts in their field. The process was clear, they took into account our wishes and gave advice on how best to implement this or that feature. We’ve got a quality software product that works great with no release delays. I think we were lucky to find such an experienced development team.
