The entire scandiweb team is really dedicated to the project, and the project manager is superb.

First of all I would like to mention the development team. I think that its one of the best teams out there. They should be an inspiration for all other companies how to work with development and communication with customers.

We don't have measurable feedback as an increase of usage of the modules, but most of the required releases were delivered in time or even before.

Sometimes a bit reactive, while most of the ideas that their developers have are really good. So it would be good to let their developers share their ideas a bit more.

The scope varies a bit during a year depending on the size and complexity of the task, but this is the strong point of working with Scandiweb. They are pragmatic and move fast. Of course we could do all communication online but we are scheduling meeting where we meet offline to brainstorm around different topics and during those sessions we get to brainstorm with highely skilled individuals.

The main contact point is the Project Manager. But apart from this we have a delivery manager, a key account manager and a business developer that are also active in communication. Depending on the sub-project we work on the right mix of developers are used.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

As an example we have seen more than 100% increase in page speed (PageSpeed Insights) on Mobile on our last bigger project.

My main point of contact is the Project Manager. We have 2 meetings per week on Google Meet. We use Slack and communicate there daily about anything that comes up. We meet offline a couple times per year. I do not think I would want more meetings, I know more or less everything that is going on with our project.

I think they have succeeded very way to make the Project Manager really feel like a integrated part in our team and that has created a very nice setup were we feel confident and relaxed in the fact that they will always try to make an as good job as they possible can.

I think there are always hick-ups on the way. But whenever an error has happened they have been quick to adapt, and quick on fixing the error.

We vetted at least a dozen off-shore developers and were impressed with ScandiWeb's body of work and management team. Their hourly rate was also where we needed to be for such a large undertaking. SOW offered the level of detail we needed to see in order to try working with an offshore vendor for the first time.

Several years ago we were looking to migrate to a newer version of the Magento platform. Our goal was to make the website more tailored for Mobile, as well as improve the overall performance. While deploying the updates in a thought-out manner to avoid any loss for Search Engine ranking. The redesigned website was successfully delivered. We saw an increase in conversion rate and mobile traffic after the new responsive theme was launched. Additionally, we did not lose any SERP equity which was a critical requirement.

ScandiWeb's PM style has proven to be organized and detail-oriented. That said, we enjoy having direct communication with our dev team via JIRA. We ran a bit long on the relaunch of our Magento sites to M2, but it was a huge project involving 7 URLS and a heavy lift for both parties.

They've shown a deep knowledge of Magento with the ability to customize requirements when needed.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

When we worked together to create a custom Oro based OMS with Marello, we spent far too much time trying to import our existing active orders. In hindsight, we should have not attempted to import our fixed term gift memberships, thus limited the scope of custom orders to be imported. Not doing so inflated the project's scope considerably. In ScandiWeb's defense, they were unable to give us a firm estimate of the import effort required in the initial SOW and stated such.

The website was launched quickly, and Scandiweb was able to iterate on it rapidly, sometimes absorbing late requirements from our clients.

Scandiweb always delivers on any asks that we put forth. They QA their work and ensure that it is done correctly. We have had a busy two year and the website traffic and sales have grown significantly. The site has performed well and met the demand.

We use JIRA to communicate which has proven very effective. We also do weekly check in meetings which gives us a chance to discuss any issues and move forward on projects.

Our core KPIs are the conversion rate, revenue, site loading speed, and traffic. There have been some challenges since it’s IT, and it happened over a short time, but we’re happy overall.

Meeting deadlines is a more complex topic. We’ve gone over development deadlines for several reasons, but we’re satisfied in terms of communication. The main communication flow is through email, and we use Jira for the development process. We’re using Muro for a high-level overview of the timelines and Notion for documentation.

They’re dedicated, and they have a future-looking attitude.

There’s a lack of specialists in the industry. We were missing some capable and experienced project managers, but they’ve assigned new ones. Having enough competence involved in the project is key, and this has been challenging for us.

For some long time there was the idea of the hybrid retail model but it wasn't really the highest priority till pandemic made some important changes. Overall goal was to provide eCommerce type of model on shopping mall.

We were investigating multiple partners with whom we could work with and we came across Scandiweb through a recommendations by looking for companies that specialized in online store development. Out of all of them, Scandiweb was with most experience in online store development.

Scandiweb supported us with integrating a hybrid retail model - an online shopping mall experience developed with Magento 2 backend and ScandiPWA frontend. Development was starting from scratch by creating the way and vision of how we could add and update products from all our tenants by custom backend integrations which allow us to import product feeds from other online stores. Import configurations include all product attributes, like price, color, descriptions, images, and many more which was a challenge to showcase the products with all the latest changes from tenant online stores.

At any given time, we’ve worked with about 8 people from their teams. But on an ongoing basis, it’s about 3 people.

The main project lasted between May 2020 and March 2021 where during time we collected the information about tenants and fully rebranded the design of the frontend. Now, we’re on a service contract with them to support product imports and optimize SEO.

From the early beginning, we had bad luck with 2 project managers leaving the company which also affected our account, but in the end, they managed to knock this problem out of the park and top management overlook the project. We were using collaboration tools like Jira that made it easy for us to follow backlog progress and communicate. The new site has only been up for under a few months, so there is still a lot of work to be done to get more products imported from our partners.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It’s their attention to have full project documentation, high-quality code, and details, for sure. Scandiweb.com's willingness to tackle the projects no matter how complex brought the results that we envisioned. Whereas other providers might compromise the solution, Scandiweb makes sure to implement things the way we requested with the extra mile by sharing advice on how-to. Their team members are experienced and comfortable with Magento 2 and PWA.

Manage team work more effectively so the client has a maximum of 1-2 contact persons during the project.

When I first met them, they suggested we be on a subscription platform or have a subscription capability on our platform. We implemented that idea and it’s proven to be very valuable to the business. It was great advice that came several years early—I just wish I could have done it sooner.

They’re great with project management and they know the business well. I have nothing but good to say about their team, which is comprised of intelligent people who know the platforms well. It’s good working with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very good at development and doing the things that need to be done. These platforms are very technical by nature and the team is very good at manipulating technologies to meet the business’ needs.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only negative I have has to be taken with a grain of salt. They’re in Latvia, which means there is a seven-hour time difference. The good thing side of that is that if I send tickets in the afternoon, they will implement them by the next morning. Our main contact always made himself available, which makes me feel a little guilty but appreciative.
