We are an app startup. Our app enables students to log savings, obtain funding from other sources and help them graduate from college without having to take out loans. My position: Owner.

We hired SoftProdigy to build the entire application. The company provided them with a manual of how the app was to function and we provided them with website designs. Our goal was to have a finished application in a few months.

We selected SoftProdigy based off the reviews, the amount of money they received from jobs on Upwork, the first zoom meeting with Aman and overall a well put together company as presented on the website.

The task was split up into four phases. The first two were met on time and the third was only a week behind. The final step included a lot of changes so this was delayed quite a bit but understandable. There were a few different APIs we had to obtain and we also used tools for a full stack development.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Still a little too early to tell but overall the company did the best they could and that's all we could ask for. There were some minor obstacles we have had to overcome but the base the platform is great!

We used Skype to communicate which was actually much better than I thought. We also had a timeline set at the beginning of the project. The timeline was simple enough but towards the end we just kept tacking on more things so it was extended.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The best thing about working with SoftProdigy was the excellent communication! Being that we are located in the US and we are 12 1/2 hours apart the team did a great job communicating. This made us the most nervous when outsourcing this job but the project manager could a phenomenal job staying in touch.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

What I would recommend to SoftProdigy (if they are doing work overseas) is to leave extra time at the end of every project for adjustments. We spent nearly half of the timeline just fixing things and adjusting things.

What were your goals for this project?

We need a tool that is capable of measuring distances between two points in a photo, this helps us to really know the nasopupillary distances, which is very important for the development of a graduated glasses.

We chose Softprodigy for the treatment received in previous jobs, always very attentive and very close, making the physical distance that separates you from being in different countries not noticeable at all.

We need a tool for our users to upload a selfie of their face with their glasses on, so that by pointing out certain points we can know precisely the nasopupillary distance and height.

We need a couple of programmers and a graphic designer to be able to connect the Plugin to our eCommerce.

Currently we have just implemented it, so we still do not have economic results from it, but we hope that this complement will bring us closer to that leadership position we have in the Spanish Optical sector.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

It is organized in several videoconference sessions and the truth that we immediately connect to carry out the project.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

as he previously said his professionalism and his close treatment are impressive.

At first I don't see any area for improvement currently.

They first sent me a proposal. Looked like they read my project details carefully before sending me their proposal. This saved both parties some valuable time. We did not have to go back and forth on the proposal to be on the same page. This helped in the timely completion of the project. More importantly, we got bug-free work. I’m the owner of SingersBabel LLC, an educational website that helps classical singers learn to pronounce the various languages in which they sing. I first hired SoftProdigy to create an online store to augment my website, which was then only a subscription website. The most recent project was to create a mobile app for the site, including the online store and subscription services.

I wanted to be able to provide resources to my users seamlessly on their mobile devices. My users are predominantly university-level singers, but there are some older volunteer singers in choirs. Other goals included increasing active users, improving functionality, and growing the online store business. I also wanted to optimize my small social media presence.

I started with SoftProdigy several years ago on small projects to update my existing website. It was natural to then hire them to build my app. The deciding factors were their professional interaction, high-quality work, timeliness, and development skills.

After conversations regarding my desire to build a new app, SoftProdigy carefully went over my needs and prepared a proposal. We went back and forth over the details until we reached an agreement. They were in frequent communication while building the app in order to align with my strategies. They developed the app for the iPhone and iPad. I’ve now hired them to help me with social media optimization.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I cannot give any metrics yet, as the launch is just now happening. However, SoftProdigy's work surpassed my expectations. There was a lot of integration with my website, and it was done very well.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was excellent. I was given a detailed schedule and the work was done on time, or even a little early. They use Basecamp to manage the workflow, which I found to be useful. SoftProdigy is in India and I am in the USA, but we all adjusted well to the time zone differences. Response to feedback was always immediate and courteous. Because they had already worked extensively with my website, SoftProdigy was able to grasp all of the intricacies pertinent to my small, niche company.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were excellent all around. SoftProdigy absolutely knows what they are doing and they do not overstate their abilities. The quality of their work far surpasses what I’ve received from small companies in the US. They also offer an excellent price point.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, I don't believe so. I understood the amount of time I would be spending on the project. I want the very best outcome and am willing to put in the time that is required to achieve it. With a less professional vendor, this may not have been possible, or they may have been put off by my being picky.

Initially, I hired them for marketing which is ongoing, but then I moved the development side of things over here too, for the continued development and betterment of the website.

What were your goals for this project?

I wanted to fix all the major bugs done by the previous dev. company and to make the search engine unmatchable with key components. The most important was the implementation of the search. In terms of marketing- I wanted a solid Social Media Presence, alongside SEO to be ongoing, and finally paid digital advertising.

I found them on several of the biggest development sites for choosing companies and I went based on reviews and previous clients.

The team, before development had even been moved over there, found a solution to my search concerns and showed me a demo on how it could work. When I agreed to move the dev. over, they then also took over all the bug fixing and betterment of the site by automating processes. The marketing team post several times each week on SM and do continuous optimization. The SEO team give me daily reports on which journals and third party sites they have worked on and initially were superb about the on-page SEO things we needed to fix.

What was the team composition?

I have one main point of contact at the company- Aman. She connects me with whoever I need to within the organisation, depending on what my needs are. Vikash is my main point of contact in the development side of things. He regularly gives me updates about the work the dev team are doing Preetika is the main person I discuss marketing strategies with. Shefali is handling the SM side.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

They implemented search quite superbly on a site which is extremely hard to implement search. They made the site speed extremely fast and they managed to remove any bugs on the site which were causing problems. For marketing, on digital advertising platforms, they received relevancy scores of 9/10 which is absolutely unheard of! It shows the quality of their work and how well they do it.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

As aforementioned, each department has a main point of contact- Vikash for dev, Preetika for marketing, but the main point of contact for the whole company is Aman. All three of them are nothing but delightful to work with and I appreciate their hard work.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their communication is the most impressive. They really do focus on keeping you updated, which gives you great peace of mind. Many other agencies win your contract and then stop communicating with you. As for this company though, they are so thorough with their processes and it makes every day interacting with them a pleasure.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I couldn't fault them on anything so far.

I work at a website called Smarthome.news. We publish technology news, mostly consisting of smart home technology, voice assistants and other gadgets.

What challenge were you trying to address with SoftProdigy?

We wanted to create a website with a custom CMS so we needed to build from the ground up, constructing the backend and designing the frontend as well.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The SoftProdigy team built the website and backend platform using PHP Laravel and have maintained the CMS. They designed the look of the website from the user-side completely, and continue to support us in SEO and Google Analytics.

We’ve spoken to various people but are mainly in contact with the project manager, project lead, SEO lead, and a developer.

How did you come to work with SoftProdigy?

I found SoftProdigy on a website called Upwork. Originally, we thought they would be too expensive because they communicated with us well and understood the requirements of the job so quickly, but their prices were competitive, so we’ve had smooth sailing since then.

So far, our company has invested about $17,000 with them.

We started working with SoftProdigy in March 2018 and our project is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since we didn't have any older products to compare this one to, the best technique to gauge their impact is through the efficiency of their work. What I look for is how quickly they’re able to do the job and to what level of quality. 

They deliver on the deadlines they promise and there usually aren’t many bugs in the work. Whereas some companies have delivered bug-ridden work in the past, SoftProgidy is both fast and careful, so they’ve been great to work with, in that respect. 

How did SoftProdigy perform from a project management standpoint?

Something can always go wrong, and sometimes there are delays and sometimes not, but it’s been clear to me that they always deal with it in the best way they can. Sumit (Senior Software Engineer, SoftProdigy) was our project manager. While he doesn’t do the work directly, he understands the details of the project very well. It’s been very positive to have him able to jump in when there’s a problem and identify it and get things solved immediately.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their ability to communicate stands out to me. When you message many developers, it’ll take a few days, or maybe a week for them to respond. SoftProdigy always responds within the day, or even instantly. We never have to wait on a message to be able to solve an issue and keep moving with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing comes to mind.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My only advice to give anybody, especially if you haven’t dealt with developers before, is just to be very clear about what your requirements are.

We initially worked with a previous vendor to create a solution that allowed customers to create custom uniforms. However, after three years, we didn’t have the product that we wanted, so we approached SoftProdigy to take over the project.

Our goal was to be able to create custom products at the consumer level. The builder needed to integrate flawlessly with our Hitachi e-commerce platform.

We worked with SoftProdigy in the past and found them very competent.

SoftProdigy developed a uniform builder and all of its related functions. With the builder, customers could select from over 200 custom items, changing the color, logo, and text. Each created item could be stored in a customer’s private locker or sent to a dealer. Customers could also add the item to their shopping cart on our Hitachi e-commerce product to purchase it directly from us. Social media integrations allowed customers to share their creations online.

They assigned a team leader and three developers.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business? 

Within the first month of going live, registrations on our site have gone up by 200%, and we’ve pushed way ahead of our competition. A number of schools and other groups are now using the uniform builder thanks to its new, ground-breaking functions.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

I coordinated with them through email and Trello to report problems, issues, and changes. They were very responsive, resolving bugs and adding features quickly.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed by their quick turnarounds when adding features and fixing issues. They completed the project and went to market in less than ten months, which far outpaced our previous provider. 

Are there any areas for improvement? 

It would be helpful to schedule weekly teleconference calls. Since we’re in the US and they’re based in India, we only had about 3–4 hours of direct communication a day due to the time difference. This didn’t become a major issue, but dedicated communication blocks might have been beneficial.

The added layer of privacy protects users’ personal information, assets, and relationships. SoftProdigy has finished the platform at this point, but we plan to partner with them again for digital marketing to promote the app.

We worked with the same project manager from day one, and we were in constant contact. The team guided us through the entire project, offering suggestions for improvement and ways to add value. We welcomed their ideas and incorporated the majority of them into the final version.

They were flexible and responsive. I appreciated their detail-oriented and process-driven approach. Additionally, they tried to understand the project from the user’s perspective, which was extremely beneficial.

I found SoftProdigy on Upwork (formerly Elance-oDesk). Compared to other providers I was considering, I felt they were the most professional and offered a financially competitive proposal. I also liked their overall approach and style of interacting with me; they were very responsive from the start.

What is the status of this engagement?

I worked with them for the first time in 2012, but more recently engaged them on a project in January 2018 and that work is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Thus far, our web application hasn't quite taken off, but that's not necessarily a reflection on their work. I've received positive feedback from those who have interacted with the app, so I'm happy with the quality of SoftProdigy's work overall.

How did SoftProdigy perform from a project management standpoint?

They don't take a rigid approach to project management, and while they tend to be a little late on deliverables, we're ultimately more concerned with the quality of their work. They consistently deliver what we want and are great about listening to and incorporating our feedback, which is why we prefer working with them at the end of the day.

What did you find most impressive about them?

SoftProdigy is great about staying in constant communication with me. I basically talk to them on a daily basis and get immediate responses from their team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Quality of deliverables hasn't been perfect, but that may be normal for these types of development projects.
