Communication in the beginning could have been improved, but that was quickly solved after a couple of phone calls.

We needed to conduct a naming study with the goal of coming up with a brand's name.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we had a kick-off session with NameStormers and specific key stakeholders. After that, we had two brainstorming sessions with the team. We did the first round of names in a session that lasted about one hour. About 1–2 weeks later, we had the second brainstorming session. NameStormers was responsible for conducting legal searches and internal studies.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our project with NameStormers was just completed, and we don't have quantitative metrics to share at the moment. We selected one of the names created by NameStormers, which was a positive result of our collaboration. NameStormers met my expectations, and their work quality was good. The team was very professional, engaging, and fun to work with. During the brainstorming sessions, NameStormers gave all teammates a chance to speak. 

How did NameStormers perform from a project management standpoint?

NameStormers delivered work on budget and helped me stay on track and on time since I was working on multiple projects simultaneously. We communicated through email and Google Meet and collaborated via Google Slides and a polling tool. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

NameStormers' biggest strength was their ability to generate names and conduct legal searches, which helped our legal department save time. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

NameStormers could improve by dedicating more time to discussions during brainstorming sessions and having clients probe more to understand why customers choose certain names.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I suggest utilizing the pre-work that NameStormers offers ahead of time and sharing it with important stakeholders of your company who will be involved in the naming decision. This will help speed up time and set up better discussions.

NameStormers was hired to lead the process of identifying a new name for WorkMonger. NameStormers was charged with developing multiple rounds of potential names for consideration. The key deliverable at the end of the engagement was a new business name that could be trademarked that WorkMonger would select.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

NameStormers developed 3 rounds of names for us, in which they shared multiple names, taglines, and reasoning behind each name. At each step along the way, they pushed our thinking and listened to our feedback. When we hit some snags along the way with trademark issues, they rolled with them and continued to support us and assist in any way possible through the process. 

We ultimately ended up with a name that we love that our attorney believes can be trademarked. It was a great process.

NameStormers was 100% on time. When they provided a deadline, they always met it. They also were always receptive to our feedback. They went the extra mile, going beyond the scope of the original agreement in order to meet our needs. 

They ultimately did 3 rounds of names for us plus a naming survey. We had not envisioned needing this amount of support upfront, but we ultimately did and NameStormers was our partner each step of the way, always putting our needs first. I was thoroughly pleased.

Their commitment to customer service was exceptional. I felt valued and respected at each step of the process. Plus, they managed the project incredibly well and were very creative with the names. No. I was thoroughly pleased. Exceptional work at a reasonable price. Plus, just fun people to work with! I can't think of anything that I wished they had done differently.

We haven't launched the products yet, so don't have any information on success of the names, but it helped us to make a decision on what names we will move forward with. We interviewed three different companies that specialize in brand naming, and focused our final decision based on their portfolio and process.

There was a kick off meeting to start, where a brand team downloaded all relevant information, including consumer research gathered to date. NameStormers came back with a first round of options, including trademark implications. After feedback was received a second, and finally a third round was presented.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were extremely happy with our final results and brand name. Brand naming is an extremely challenging and subjective process. NameStormers approached the project very professionally and was able to navigate the many opinions.

There were regular Zoom meetings where we discussed the pros and cons of the different approaches. NameStormers was able to initiate an on-line voting system that allowed people to make comments that were controversial.

NameStormers not only will continue to provide new rounds of names until you are satisfied but they also provide consumer research as part of their proprietary process.

We tasked Namestormers to help us develop a handful of naming conventions/options for leadership to align to. They conducted a handful of interviews to help gain alignment and traction on where we had been and where we wanted to go. Their final deliverables included an extensive document that outline all of their work, rationale, legal input and other consideration to help us guide our decision-making.

We worked directly with their managing director and a small crew from his side. They were extremely efficient and thorough.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

While our business changed direction near the end of our exercise and we weren't able to bring our exact work to fruition, the Namestormers team provided an excellent view on how we could/should approach naming exercises in the future - as well as strategic input for navigating buy-in.

The team mainly leveraged easy-to-digest presentations and word documents that were easy to follow. Their approach was collaborative from day one and we felt they were 100% invested and thinking outside of the box (as well as showing real dedication to the job by ensuring they weren't done until we were happy - regardless of the agreed upon scope).

The 1:1 approach to their collaboration was extremely beneficial as it helped us truly get to the core of the exercise and not feel bloated with too many people "in the room."

We are in the process of reformulating some products in one of our product lines and our existing line name was no longer a good fit for the collection. We were looking for a name that unified all the products, communicated their benefit, and had a fun, youthful feel.

We were recommended this vendor by a leader in our company who had worked for them before.

Namestormers was able to deliver a comprehensive list of options for us in just 3 meetings to hit our tight timing. We reviewed the brief with them and explained all each of the products, had a first review a few weeks later, and a secondary/final list a week after that. They delivered a full name book with legal screening at the completion of the project. They also recommended consumer testing capabilities, but we were able to leverage our internal team.

We worked with 3 people on the team. Sarah was our main point of contact, but Megan and Mike were in every meeting to pitch names, answer questions, and handle logistics/billing.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

In the end, we decided not to move forward with any of the names Namestormers had recommended as an original pitch from an internal team member wound up receiving stronger interest from our target consumer. However, we liked a lot of the options and would work with Namestormers again.

The team was very flexible and easy to work with. They were able to flex to meet our timing needs. In total, we had 3 hour-long meetings via zoom over about 6 weeks and communicated via email in between.

They are very specialized in product naming and have a clear process to move from briefing to recommendation.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing that comes to mind. The first review we had I was nervous that some of the names were not a great fit for our brand or product line. But their second round incorporated our feedback incredibly well and was much more in-line with what we were looking for!
