I’m the CEO of a boutique investment firm. We invest in all different sectors, ranging from mining to technology.

What challenge were you trying to address with Sonder Creative?

We use them for all of our branding needs. When we invest in some companies, we like to review their investor presentations, their brand, and other materials. I use Sonder Creative as a one-stop-shop and use them for all of those needs and my client’s needs.

What was the scope of their involvement?

For my business, Sonder Creative has provided a range of services. They designed and developed our website. Their team produced new promotional materials, like pamphlets, business cards, and our logo. All of our branding materials are taken care of by them. 

For my clients, they’ve provided similar services, including from-scratch development work and producing marketing materials across several industries.

Jeff (Creative Director, Sonder Creative) is my main point of contact, but some of his other teammates support the projects, too.

I followed a referral from one of Jeff’s past clients. I saw the work he’d done for them and wanted to be in contact with them.

We’ve spent in the range of $30,000–$50,000 on their services in the last two years. 

What is the status of this engagement?

I began working with Jeff 4–5 years ago, but my work with Sonder Creative has been ongoing since February 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The work that Sonder Creative has done for our clients has absolutely helped them grow and portray their brands more professionally. We couldn’t be happier with their branding work. Everyone loves our logo and design, too. We’ve never received any negative feedback on their work that they’ve done for our clients. 

How did Sonder Creative perform from a project management standpoint?

They always deliver on time and within our budget. Sometimes they even deliver ahead of schedule. Everything has been managed perfectly, which is why I continue to give them my business. They’re very organized, even when they’re really busy. We primarily communicate through email and phone calls, and that has worked well. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their design skills and overall work ethic makes them stand out. I give short deadlines, and they always manage to get it done on time for me even when they are busy.

I have nothing but good things to say about their service.

Be clear about what you want. If you give them as much detail as possible, they’ll be able to give you what you’re looking for.

We are a lifestyle brand that operates within the cannabis space. We create cannabis accessories, and our intention was to create a design-forward brand that meshes better with the modern culture of the space in Canada.

What challenge were you trying to address with Sonder Creative?

We worked with them from the start, and we hired them to help with brand design and other needs.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They did everything from the website to packaging. They provided our whole brand aesthetic, and we worked with us on all our product and logo design. They helped us create imagery that worked well with the brand, and the style makes sense with the size of each product we offer. We come to them with ideas, and they help bring those ideas to life. They designed and developed our site in Shopify, then they helped create thematics that resonate with our brand.

We have recurring business with them, and we go back to them whenever we need help with any particular product. Sometimes we use them to build new packaging from scratch, and sometimes we make changes to existing products.

What is the team composition?

I'm not sure how big the team is, but I'd assume we work with most of their staff. We have one main point of contact, and we occasionally reach out to a second individual as needed.

How did you come to work with Sonder Creative?

They were referred to us, and we worked with them on some other projects previously.

How much have you invested with them?

I'd estimate the cost falls somewhere between $10,000-$25,000 USD.

What is the status of this engagement?

For this collaboration, we started working together in June or July 2018. We still use them for all our design needs.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We get a lot of feedback on the general aesthetic of the brand and the products. We hoped to convey something more modern, and we've definitely done that. All the products, the website, and the marketing materials they created were accurate to everything we wanted. They were a key part in developing the whole brand.

So much of our ability to sell products comes down to the aesthetics that Sonder Creative established. The brand is well received, and our products are sold in 90 stores across Canada within our first year of sales. The site is reliable and functional, and they got us quickly up to speed on how it operates. It's easy for us to make changes, but we couldn't have done it without the foundation they built for us.

How did Sonder Creative perform from a project management standpoint?

They deliver everything on time and within our budget, even when surprises arise on our side. They respond promptly, and they always communicate the bigger picture to explain why certain things should go in a different direction. Their communication in general is very good, and they share their ideas and recommendations to get the best results.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They create the best products we could possibly have. If we did this on our own, those deliverables might have ended up completely different. They walk us through their entire process, and they excel in new or challenging projects.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't think there's anything they should change or do differently. We're very happy with the work they do for us, and we keep going back to them.

As with any designer, have a good idea of what you want. Convey those ideas as best you can.
