I’m the CTO of an engineering company. We focus on scaling zero knowledge proof applications on Solana and EVM chains.

What challenge were you trying to address with 7Block Labs?

We needed help with end-to-end development ownership, from architecting our entire app to writing legally compliant smart contracts.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

7Block Labs has been responsible for developing our app from scratch. The team has created legally compliant smart contracts and performed multiple rounds of audits, including third-party audits. 7Block Labs has also incorporated multiple versions of UI/UX design variations into the app's frontend development. Meanwhile, the backend development has gone ahead on its own path without any blockers. Finally, the team has integrated the frontend, backend, and smart contracts.

In terms of technologies, 7Block Labs has used Solana Anchor Rust smart contracts, backend systems in Rust and TypeScript, Next.js APIs, and React for the frontend. The team has also used GCP with KMS, cloud run instances, and multi-sig.

Moreover, 7Block Labs has linked the app on three different environments: a dev instance linked with DevNet, another one for testing, and the last one on MainNet. The team has also scoped the MainNet smart contract instructions to be gated to our company admins for two weeks to ensure a smooth launch before public access.

We chose 7Block Labs over other options because they had high ratings, were close to my geographic location, and had pricing that fit our budget. Additionally, they had a great culture fit, good value for cost, and were referred to me. 7Block Labs’ company values aligned with ours, and they already had proven live MainNet projects.

We’ve spent a little over $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with 7Block Labs in January 2025, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

7Block Labs has delivered 0 critical vulnerabilities, 100% production uptime without any dedicated maintenance time slots, 100% on-time delivery, and 100% within the budget. The team has also helped in locking 32K worth of assets safely on-chain. Moreover, we have 1,000+ on-chain transactions. 7Block Labs has handed over run books, documentation, and user screen recordings when a user uses the interface.

In the audit iterations, 7Block Labs has very keenly tracked the gas spent in Solidity contracts and compute units and priority fees in anchor contracts. The team has finally handed over the best versions of smart contracts without any security issues. 7Block Labs has also taken into account what pieces of code should live in Next.js TypeScript API routes and what should live in Rust backend servers to give the best performance.

How did 7Block Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

7Block Labs always delivers on time for the sprint goals. The team is very transparent about what’s not working and what the blockers are. 7Block Labs also tells us how much time it will take to resolve the blockers, which gives us a proper timeline of feature delivery and sprint goals. We communicate via virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

7Block Labs’ deep technical expertise and connections within the Web3 blockchain ecosystem are impressive. When we have any blockers related to other technologies we’re using, the team not only tries to resolve the issue but also brings in people from outside within a day to get the issue resolved. To be honest, they did more than what I ask for.

Are there any areas they could improve?

After the project delivery, I asked 7Block Labs for fundraising requests. Their fundraising team was evolving at that time, so I had to wait for more than the expected time to get started with them.

7Block Labs handled everything from the start, including gathering our requirements. The team delivered zero-knowledge proof-based Solidity smart contracts, tests, a sample internal MVP DApp, deployment scripts, and knowledge transfers to our internal team.

7Block Labs delivered before the expected deadline. We had zero critical issues, 100% test coverage, zero bugs from the security audit, zero issues from the internal MVP integration with smart contracts, and 100% functionality implementation as we discussed in the discovery call. We tracked these outcomes through team observations, feedback, and specific metrics from our security audit.
