They were very meticulous when it came to project management. The tools we used were google meet, skype, and emails. Last but not the least, they were consistent with their timelines.

As mentioned earlier, the website’s performance got a boost after upgrading it’s back-end infrastructure. While the newly designed pages are yet to be implemented, they are visually engaging. Last but not the least, the payment gateway is working great - it captures payments seamlessly and can handle several transactions at a time. Overall, we are happy with their service.

We had calls via Google meet and managed communication via skype. For the most part, they proactively drove the project ahead and kept us posted. The timelines were met and they remained accessible whenever needed.

I loved the way they proactively drove our project. Unlike other agencies (where we have to constantly ask about the progress), they take the charge and move things forward. Not just that, they involved us at every step and kept us posted about the latest developments. We are impressed with their attention to detail and project management style.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

It would have been great if they used one single tool for project management and communication. Nothing significant through. I just feel it’d be quite easier that way. Overall, it was a great experience working with them.

We hired Aalpha Information Systems for redesigning our website from the ground up. Our old website had quite a few challenges. For instance, it wasn’t fully responsive, and took very long to load entirely. Moreover, the design was old-fashioned and not so appealing. Thus, with this project, we wanted to give our website an overhaul - not just visually but also from a performance standpoint. We wanted to create a new website which was visually engaging and loads quickly. It should deliver a consistent user experience all round.

We were surfing through various different independent ratings and review platforms like clutch to filter out IT agencies who were competent with web development. Initially, they developed two designs and implemented them in the staging environment so that we can have a look. While both of them were good, we needed a few improvements to finalize one. They generously re-worked on those designs and created a new one exactly how we wanted it to be. As of now, they are working on the final version in the staging environment and we can’t wait to see it go live.

While they are yet to port the website to the live environment, but we’re extremely happy with the work. We are very confident that our users will love it. More importantly, with this new design, we managed to tick all our goals. It’s fast, snappy, responsive, and visually engaging. Couldn’t ask for more.

Working with them was great! They adhered to deadlines almost all the times. When they said they would do something, they did. We had calls weekly where we discussed more about the project. With communication too, they were quite prompt. We mainly relied on skype, and email for communicating with each other. For project management, we used Jira.

They know what they are doing. Their team is passionate and always try to go above and beyond what they have promised. They were always accessible whenever we needed and we had a great time working with them. Unlike other agencies, they strictly adhered to deadlines and genuinely worked on our feedback.

We mainly look at their cost-effectiveness and timeliness. We have deliverables and milestones specified in the contract.

Aalpha is knowledgeable, and we have been impressed with the quality of work. We haven’t had any issues.

I’d give them pretty high marks on this front. There was a bit of a delay, but we have to keep in mind that things aren’t running as smoothly as they normally would due to COVID-19. The delay didn’t have a huge impact on the overall project.

Initially, most of the communication was by phone to make sure that we were all on the same page. It’s been mainly by email since then.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They take the time to really understand the project. I’ve been involved in launching new ventures for a long time. This process involves the initial layout of the architecture and ensuring that everybody understands what the required end product is.

Aalpha took the time and made the effort to ensure that they understood the details of what we were looking to do. They have the technical skills to deliver on our requirements.

I give them pretty high marks overall. There has been nothing out of the ordinary. We can always work on more effective communication and timely delivery, but Aalpha has done a very good job from an overall standpoint.

Defining the project in detail and making sure that everybody understands what it entails is important. Having a good architecture upfront and a common understanding with the service provider of what you’re looking for are key to any successful project.

I worked on this project as a favor for one of our clients whose tech platform fell apart. My developers weren’t available to rebuild the client’s platform, so I needed another team to help them.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Aalpha initially reviewed the original system and recommended that we start from scratch because the original database wasn’t conducive to the client’s needs. I created and sent all of the wireframes to Aalpha. Their team made recommendations to improve the wireframes and then created a plan for reconstructing the database, transferring content, and then rebuilding the whole frontend system. They executed the plan and rebuilt the system in PHP. Aalpha used Laraval as the framework.

The platform supports contractors within manufacturing facilities. Contractors submit safety documents to the platform and then administrators approve them as available for different jobs. It's critical that all the safety forms are there before they begin work. The platform also serves as a CMS to keep track of all the contractors in their system.

I directly worked with three people from Aalpha. However, there were about five developers copied to emails. There was a project manager, a system architect, and a lead developer working on this project.

I used Clutch to search for an offshore development team that fit the project. We ended up hiring Aalpha to handle it.

I reached out to them in October 2020 and this project wrapped in January 2021. However, I hired them for another project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Only six months before contacting us, our client built the first version of the platform and spent over $40,000 on it. This version costs significantly less, so our client’s excited about their new platform.

When you’re starting to work with a whole new development team, it can be quite challenging because developers have their own language. I was impressed by Aalpha’s consultation because they discussed their expertise and ideas. This helped us collaborate.

We mainly communicate via phone calls. Despite the time difference, their team is available to jump on calls and talk through ideas with me. After the development began, it was quieter because their team needed to build the platform. When we hit the QA period, we had weekly calls to review feedback.

We only struggled with timelines. Having built many platforms, I knew the time commitment it would take to complete this project. Aalpha said that they could finish it in a short time period, but we ended up missing the deadline by a month. Given my background, I was able to warn my client that we wouldn’t meet the timeline despite Aalpha working their hardest.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed by Aalpha’s suggestions for the wireframes. I compiled concepts for what would be aesthetically pleasing, and then their team gave suggestions that worked better for the client. I previously worked with six other development teams and Aalpha stood out among all of them for the way that they communicated their ideas to achieve our goals.

Their team is committed to customer satisfaction. In the tech world, you create requirements and wireframes but then users could behave differently when using it. Aalpha said they’d make changes for six months after the product’s launch. They have gone above and beyond to adjust the platform. Unlike other providers, Aalpha hasn’t charged us additional hours to make the system right.

The timeframe is the only area where they could improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have clear goals and a clear timeline for when you need those goals accomplished. It’s important to have an open line of communication and ensure your goals can be achieved on both sides.

The first phase was to build a nonfunctional prototype of the website. In the next phase, we worked on making the prototype clickable and now we’re nearing completion. We have a few things here and there to finish up. The final product will be a web application accessible through the website.

What they’ve done has been great. From June–October 2020, they only produced about 18 pages and that seems to me like a long time. I often had to poke them a little bit to get things rolling. I know that COVID-19 was an excuse, and it may be unfair of me to mention it.

The quality of the work was fine. However, I don’t have a lot of experience with development companies so I’m not sure if this is a normal timeline. All in all, to me, occasionally things took a long amount of time to be completed.

The terminology and language barrier caused things to be ambiguous and not clearly spelled out. However, in the second phase, the timeline was much clearer.

They prepared a document for our initial meetings that I was able to come back to a couple of months later. That really stood out to me.

I recommend they have a milestone-oriented structure that relays what’s going to be achieved by when so their customer can have a better understanding of clear expectations.
