BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the COO of Pentabit Apps. We build general-purpose apps for content creation and develop games on Android and iOS. We’re located in Lahore, Pakistan.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Appricot IT Consultants?

We sought their help in mobile app development. We wanted to develop an application for photo editing and filter creation on the Android platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we provided them a minimum description of what we wanted to build, then shared some competitors' apps so that they could get an idea of what we were describing to them. From there, they started with the development process, building the app from scratch using Kotlin as the programming language. They also implemented core features, which are photo filters that users can apply to their selected photos. Users can also create different filters inside the app.

Their team has already completed the Android app, and we plan to ask them to build an iOS version and apply optimizations to some of our other apps.

What is the team composition?

We work with two people from their team, the CEO and project manager.

How did you come to work with Appricot IT Consultants?

A friend of mine recommended them to me.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $3,500 on this project so far.

What is the status of the engagement?

We started working together in January 2022, and our collaboration is still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app is currently live in the Google Play store and has generated an average rating of 4.4 across 70–80 user reviews. Overall, we’ve been happy with their work.

How did Appricot IT Consultants perform from a project management standpoint?

They have a very good project management system. They use Jira to manage tasks, which helps us see and understand all the deliverables that they’ve completed and are working on. In a nutshell, they’ve given us complete visibility of the work. We communicate with them through Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have very good developers within their team. They also have a great QA team that continues to test our app and fix bugs.

Are there any areas they could improve?

None.

Any advice for potential customers?

Trust them to do all your development work because they are very good at it.
