I'm the creative director for Clockwork Mouse Digital, a digital media company.

What challenge were you trying to address with BRAHMA TECHNOLAB?

I needed someone to help me with custom software development according to my concepts.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

BRAHMA TECHNOLAB has been doing custom software development for us. I started by giving them detailed briefs of what I want, and they'll be using animated SVGs and WebP in the product to bring it up to the latest technologies.  

I'm currently working on the fourth effort with BRAHMA TECHNOLAB, developed in Laravel. We intend to bring many dynamic concepts to the web using the one publishing metaphor. It's an ongoing effort; I'm an electronic media designer, and every time I come up with a concept, I see them as my partner to get everything to the market.

How did you come to work with BRAHMA TECHNOLAB?

How much have you invested in them?

So far, we've spent $16,000–$22,500 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

I began working with them in April 2020, and the engagement is ongoing. It has taken about two years of ongoing talks to get the code narrowed down in one phase, and the longer-term vision has been to form a partnership that will be more fruitful for all of us.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Everything has been lean, mean, and efficient with them. The next version of our product will be a lot more bandwidth-heavy because the internet has matured, and the bandwidth is becoming less and less of an issue, which means that we can design more for the interactive space.

How did BRAHMA TECHNOLAB perform from a project management standpoint?

They've been brilliant; we have smooth English communication with them. I'm also sympathetic from the point of view that I understand what is necessary for deadlines and schedules. In terms of communication, we usually use phone calls, Zoom, and WhatsApp.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It is primarily the fact that I could find a younger partner because I'm a senior in years, so I've been looking to hand off this project to someone who is potentially worthy of having it. I run a big Formula One site. It is a complete channel, and I do all of the work, so I had to get the engines written according to the specifics of what I intend to do — it's been a Godsend finding them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't think there's anything they can improve on.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Narrow down your concept in your own mind’s eye and ensure that you have a product flow. Admittedly, I'm an unusual client because I'm doing all the project management work myself, so anyone with those skills would interface with them very well.

For what projects/services did your company hire BRAHMA TECHNOLAB, and what were your goals?

Our website was changing CMS platforms and we needed help filtering and altering content during the migration process. The old markup and variable data would needed to be replaced by scanning content, looking for markers and ID's and then replacing the content with new markup and related data.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

BRAHMA TECHNOLAB was referred to me by a mutual business acquaintance as very qualified and trustworthy.

We communicated via video and audio chat, explaining the scope of work and dividing it into smaller projects. We then created a shared document with updated task notes, allowing us to comment, ask and answer questions, make changes, etc. Development was done locally through Git version control and pushed to a dev server for reviews.

We worked with one person who was a developer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

There were many mini-projects in our scope, all of which we mutually found tactics for and implemented. These were mission-critical components of our migration.

As mentioned previously, we used a shared document to efficiently communicate and make comments throughout our weeks of work. We also communicated with meeting software to share screens and discuss our work verbally.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They had great ideas about how to efficiently create functions and solutions to our problems. They listened to advice and followed instructions – made suggestions if they had a better idea. They were very friendly and personable but didn't waste time with chit chat.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Like any project, there was some trial and error, but they were quick to disclose hurdles and find solutions.

One area for improvement could be optimizing communication and coordination across time zones when working with overseas teams. However, aside from that, I have no other criticism.

It would be good if there were daily updates being sent to us vs. us having to check in on where things are at.
