I am the general manager at a concrete production company.

What challenges were you trying to address with DaCodes?

Our main goal was to develop a platform that would allow us to trace and monitor our clients' orders in real-time.

What was the scope of their involvement?

DaCodes developed our tracking app. It’s compatible with both Android and iOS. 

Down the road, we would like to add a loyalty system, which would allow transactions, orders, payments, etc. 

What is the team composition?

I worked directly with 4 people, but there were about 8 or 10 involved in total.

How did you come to work with DaCodes?

I knew of a couple of apps they’d developed that were similar to what we needed, so I felt they would be a good choice for us.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve spent about 300,000 Mexican pesos (approximately $13,600 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with them for a couple of years now, since 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app has allowed us to link our inner systems to our clients' expectations and needs. Thus, we can now offer our clients complete transparency on our processes. 

How did DaCodes perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management was good in general. However, for the second stage, I would like to have a clearer image on additional features that may come up and how DaCodes can adjust to the established deadlines. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were pioneers in our sector thanks to the app DaCodes built for us. This development positioned our company on the international stage in terms of digitalization. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

As I mentioned before, in this first stage the reach and features were not defined since the beginning. I believe this was because they were not familiar enough with our processes. So this is something that we want to consider before starting with the next phase.

I am a subdirector at Polpusa. Our company does flexible packaging which is packaging for things like food and toilet paper. I manage the company’s sales, supply chain, finances, HR, and I take care of the technology department.

What challenge were you trying to address with DaCodes?

We wanted to change our website to start introducing our brand to new markets, specifically in the US and Central America. We wanted to create a much better site for our products in order to get new leads, new clients, and new providers as well.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We told them what we wanted which was a new site and a catalog of all of our products. We have three different families of products and we wanted to be able to show that on our site. 

After the kickoff, they created a flow chart of the different processes and everything we wanted on the site. Then, they began with the design process. They showed us the layout of different pages on our site. They showed us the design through a link, and even though it wasn’t programmed yet, it was really cool that we could see it as if it was a site prior to development. We had a few comments for them about very specific things, and they made those changes within a couple of weeks. They sent us the link again and after we approved it, they began the development.

We had asked for an admin panel where we could manage all the information on the website. We wanted it to be really easy because our marketing team would be the ones to maintain the website. 

It has taken a little longer than expected because from our side, it has taken us longer to finish all the photographs that we need for our products as well as the technical data sheet information. Because they understood what we needed very quickly, their team delivered efficiently. We thought that we were on time with taking our pictures and making the sheets, but we realized we were very behind when DaCodes told us they were almost ready for us to upload those things. Other than that, it has been great.  

What is the team composition?

When they were developing the design content, we were in touch with three people including two designers and the project manager. We were also in touch with the salesperson initially who gave us the quote and then put us in touch with the project manager. I believe there were multiple developers involved, but the developer that is in charge of the admin panel is the one that we are in touch with.

How did you come to work with DaCodes?

They are located in the same city as us, and I had heard of them before. They were recommended to us. We received quotes from three or four companies.

I had seen the different websites that other companies had developed but I liked the style, images, and quality of DaCodes. They weren’t the cheapest option, but I loved their portfolio of what they had previously done.

How much have you invested in them?

We have spent about $6,000–$7,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in May 2020, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven’t launched yet so I don’t have specific metrics, but it is a huge change from what we had. Although I don’t have numbers, the quality, functionality, and design of the website are great. We weren’t able to achieve anything like this before working with them.

I had the idea of how I wanted new customers to contact us, and they provided me with great feedback. They recommended that we do it in a different way and explained the importance of our users not getting frustrated if they are not able to find what they are looking for right away. They showed us a different way of getting new leads. They gave us really good feedback and really good advice on how to make the right choices for our website.

How did DaCodes perform from a project management standpoint?

They do one to two-week sprints and they send us reports that show us the progress. We have meetings every few weeks, or more often if necessary. Everything that they have promised to deliver during our meeting is done by the next meeting.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a method of extracting what the client wants which I think is amazing. The method that they have to get to know their client and understand what he or she needs is amazing. 

The communication channels that they provide us with are great. If we have a question or anything, they solve whatever we need. It is easy to get in touch with them and express anything that we need. 

The service that they give us as well as their capability to understand what we need and what we want is impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m very happy with what they have done, and I cannot think of anything that they could improve. I think any company wants things to be faster. Sometimes we don’t understand how much time it takes since we aren’t developers. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’re a company that doesn’t only think of getting bigger or making more cash. They are very interested in giving their client the perfect solution and I think that is so valuable. Sometimes businesses only want to do business and will offer whatever it takes for them to sell, but with DaCodes, I felt their desire to solve our problems no matter what. It wasn’t about money or anything other than solving what we really need. They are a great partner for your company and together you can do great things.

What challenge were you trying to address with DaCodes?

We wanted to refurbish our owned and operated site.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

DaCodes revamped our existing site using React Native and some PHP. They also added new features, which was a collaborative effort between their coders and our internal design team and UX people. 

We envisioned a new newsfeed with a better UX that would respond to browsers on desktop and mobile. DaCodes came up with a neat implementation of our designs. We didn’t have our website on a central cloud server before, so they helped us put everything on AWS, as well.

What is the team composition?

We worked with 3–5 people, including a project manager.

How did you come to work with DaCodes?

I met them through a university event. I pitched my project at a conference, and they came to me afterward and told me about their coding shop. We analyzed other companies, but when we saw their proposal and interviewed their coders in our interviews, we started working together. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $10,000–$15,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project ran from March until May 2016.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It was a flawless project. The platform was exactly what we wanted, and my technical team was happy with it. I think it was so successful because we set the design and UX rules, which DaCodes then implemented via code. 

How did DaCodes perform from a project management standpoint?

DaCodes did a good job. We used Jira and Asana to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciated their prices.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’d recommend that they hire more English speakers. We only needed a Spanish-language product, but if we wanted to go abroad, then they would need English-speaking coders.

Any advice for potential customers?

Daily or weekly standups are needed. You don’t have to babysit DaCodes, but you should be on top of what you’re asking for and to see how the project is going.

During 2021, two important milestones were achieved at the project level: New telemedicine video calls and a new patient scheduling process

Their process is very effective and proactive, complying with the adaptation both in development tools and project monitoring: Clickup, github and aws
