I had a list of a few companies that included Danavero, a company I found through Clutch, and a developer I found elsewhere. We gave everybody access to a mock environment, and I had a short list of items that they needed to build. I essentially used those items as a coding test to see their approaches and how well the teams could perform.

Danavero stood out; they were the only ones who delivered above and beyond what was asked. They were also good with timelines. Moreover, we wanted a team that knew the libraries and modules we were using. Our team also wanted them to structure the project in a scalable way — Danavero hit the nail in the head.

Danavero delivers. Many other companies claim they can deliver, but few can truly demonstrate an understanding of requirements and the purpose of the project. After signing the engagement, Danavero provided us with a clear timeline on their deliverables and they were always available to speak whenever we had questions. First, they completely remodeled our website and were able to implement effective SEO system that gave us more online leads. They built an online platform that gave our customers access to their information from our server in a user friendly interface and most importantly a very secure platform. They built a network system that gave access to our accounting software's in a remote setting for both our clients and our team memebrs.

Our team leader for this project was Andriy Bibik. He was the main point of contact for our firm - it was very easy to get in touch with him and he completely managed the project with his team.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We saw about 50% increase in our customer leads and were able to secure more clients after the SEO implementation and our website re design. Remote access granted our firm to increase collaboration between team members and our clients. Most importantly our clients were able to collaborate fast and efficiently. We were able to provide them with accounting/bookkeeping support any time they needed - this definitely provided a lot of value. The platform is working perfectly and without any issues.

I’m the CEO of Trade Route, a digital brokerage enablement platform. We provide traditional freight brokerages with digital tools that enable them to be more prepared for the future.

What challenge were you trying to address with Danavero Inc.?

We’re a startup so we didn’t have an established technical team. For a little while, I outsourced technical work to individual independent contractors but that always required me to be the project manager. That was ok, and I enjoyed it but there was a lot less cohesion when we did it that way. On top of that, the projects were always less straightforward in terms of objectives and less efficient in execution.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Danavero Inc. developed the entire platform for us. The initial developers were subpar and didn’t have very good coding skills but the platform was put together nonetheless. Danavero Inc. came in and completely redid the way the code functions within the existing site. After that, they helped me put together the entirely new feature site and created a brand-new product that’s now our leading product.

They primarily used Node.js, React.js, and AWS. Their team integrated Stripe for payment API and SendGrid for email API. We also built in some automation features. It wasn't super fancy but was process automation dealing with user accounts, segmenting responsibilities between users, organization accounts, route accounts, administrator accounts, and recorded accounts.

What is the team composition?

There were four members on their team including a project manager who talked to us about what our needs were. From there, we had a frontend developer, backend developer, and QA person. They also supplemented more people depending on whatever resources they needed as the project went on. This included SEO people and UI/UX designers. We could also get additional front- and backend developers onboarded if we needed to.

How did you come to work with Danavero Inc.?

I conducted a previous cybersecurity audit with a separate company. I talked about our issues with past developers and outsourcing to international countries to one of the individuals I worked with. This person said they knew a man who ran an agency in Toronto that was extremely security-focused and recommended Danavero Inc.

One of the benefits of being in Toronto is that Danavero Inc. is bound under Toronto legal requirements, which is good. This meant I wasn’t just working with someone in another country that I’d never be able to find. Danavero Inc. is clearly set up as a corporation with a fully staffed team that’s ready to go.

That was a big benefit in and of itself, but on top of that, hearing about their attention-to-detail and attention-to-security was really good for me. This was something I was looking for and something that’s really important to me.

The engagement started in March 2020 and it’s ongoing. We completed the project last week, but they still help with some bug fixes and those sorts of things. I still plan on maintaining a direct line with them so I can get things done whenever I need.

In the last week alone, we’ve received six promising leads through the platform. There’s been a lot of interest from the industry on what we’ve built. There was a lot to do, and Danavero Inc. handled the timeframe very effectively. They worked really well.

They’ve done a great job with project management. They have an internal project management tool they use to track the project steps. We communicate through our team’s Slack, and I really appreciate that they integrated and adapted to the platform I used.

There’s great communication between the project manager and our team. There have never been any issues with the project manager or team not knowing what to do. They’re a pretty well-oiled machine.

The product hasn’t launched yet, but we have plans to do so soon. The quality of their work is good. The KPIs we tracked were about understanding user storage and backlog. We wanted to know how much could be completed in one iteration. 

How did Danavero perform from a project management standpoint?

There was a project manager from their team. We started using Scrum Master internally. We used Redmine for Agile development and communicated mainly via Google Hangouts or Google Meetings, as the team was in different locations.
