Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the lead co-founder and COO at Ural Biotech. We're a biotechnology company working on several research projects through our research facilities. Our current project is the creation of bio-additives for farms and animal feed.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Klad Syndicate?

We were starting a new division and needed to implement a new branding, so we were looking for someone to help with our digital presence and provide us with branding, naming, design, and web development. Some of our additives go in special packages, and we also needed to design those packages. Our challenge was launching our business and going to market over a year. We also needed to have proper digital materials for marketing.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We initially provided Klad Syndicate with our business description, strategy, and goals. Based on that, the team worked on creating a separate brand strategy. Klad Syndicate created a brand name, brand strategy, and our messaging tone and voice. They were also responsible for designing the logo, presentations, and business cards, and selecting our brand's color scheme and fonts. 

In addition, Klad Syndicate designed and developed our website from scratch. The team used Figma for design, showing us visual mock-ups before developing the site. Klad Syndicate also designed 3D images for our website and provided instructions and guidance on how to shoot our photographs better.

I was mainly in touch with the project manager, Egor.

How did you come to work with Klad Syndicate?

A colleague who worked with them in the past referred Klad Syndicate to me.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $84,000 on the project.

What is the status of the engagement?

We worked together from January 2020–August 2022.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Before working with Klad Syndicate, we didn't have proper branding materials. Most of our audience was adults over 45 years old, and we asked Klad Syndicate to create clear materials. After the project was completed, it was easy for us to show our potential clients all the information they needed and share our website. 

Thanks to Klad Syndicate's work, we could convert new customers more easily, and we saw an increase in our new incoming clients since then.

How did Klad Syndicate perform from a project management standpoint?

I liked working with Klad Syndicate. I was mainly involved in the design phase, but when the team started working on the technical part, I asked other colleagues to manage the project. We had no problems working with the team, and we mainly communicated through Discord.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What really amazed me was that they provided 3D images for our website without extra charges. The team also included this 3D molecule in some of our marketing materials. I was also impressed by their naming skills since we didn't know how to name our business. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything they need to improve because the partnership worked well.

Any advice for potential customers?

I would advise you to prepare materials in advance and explain what your company does in the best way possible. Our company works in biotechnology, which is a complicated industry. We need to ensure we appropriately explain to designers what we do.

What challenges were you trying to address with Klad Syndicate?

Since we work in logistics, our business approach to the digital world was old-fashioned. We needed a web presence.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Klad Syndicate designed and developed our website. We started with a couple discovery sessions to discuss all the possible aspects the website could cover. We agreed on hiring consulting and website design services with them. Then, they provided us with three mood boards for the website. After we picked one, Klad Syndicate created snippets of the design, and after our approval, they did the final design.

Additionally, they found a copywriter to help us with that part.

What was the team composition?

We mainly worked with one mentor. At some point, we also worked with the second manager of their team, who was responsible for the website implementation.

How did you come to work with Klad Syndicate?

They approached us via email, and we agreed to meet up. We realized that Klad Syndicate had worked for many colleagues in our field, so we decided to work with them.

How much have you invested in them?

We spent about $4,800 on the design. With the add-ons, it was about $8,000 in total.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together between February–March 2021. They finished in 3–4 weeks.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Klad Syndicate was amazing. We started having new clients immediately; we actually had six new clients after the website launched. Moreover, it continued after that; we have new clients each month; it’s absolutely great.

How did Klad Syndicate perform from a project management standpoint?

We didn’t bother with any problems; they were always on time. The team was also proactive and communicative, writing emails, scheduling calls, and checking if we were satisfied with the project advances.

Most of the communication was over phone or video calls, but we also had many meetings through Google Meet, especially in the beginning when they were still learning about our company. Additionally, we communicated through emails for contracts, approval processes, and more. We met a couple of times online to discuss some general matters.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were impressed with how fast we started seeing results. We started having up to eight clients per month after the site was launched.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m honestly not sure there was anything to improve.
