Our collaboration with Mokutan was driven by the need to revolutionize the way we monitored our SmartCellar devices. Our overarching goal was not just technological advancement but also promoting sustainability in our operations. We envisioned an integrated system capable of overseeing the temperature management of beer across our network of over 300 pubs in the UK, thereby optimizing energy use and reducing our carbon footprint.

In our quest for a tech partner, Mokutan stood out due to their proven track record in delivering cutting-edge solutions. Mokutan conducted in-depth interviews and workshops to grasp our requirements and then meticulously crafted a roadmap that encompassed everything from user experience design to technical architecture. The end product was a state-of-the-art app, available on both iOS and Android platforms, featuring a comprehensive web dashboard for real-time monitoring across pub estates.

We worked specifically with 3 members of the Mokutan team, Marcel and Sunny who were the Directors, Marcel was our project contact and Sunny was leading the development of the app and then we also met with Akansha who was a developer on the project. 

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables? 

The transformation was remarkable. The new app is sleak and easy to use. It allows us and our clients to see the impact of the devices across the estates with ease. Which makes selling impact of the devices a lot easier. The feedback from our pub managers has been positive, praising the app's usability and the insights it provides. 

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company? 

Mokutan’s project management was great. They were proactive in addressing challenges, ensuring quality, and regularly updating the app to meet evolving needs. They didn’t just focus on the technical aspects but also deeply understood the sustainability aspect, which is core to our business philosophy. Their ability to blend modern technology with our sustainability goals was exceptional. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently? 

Looking back, the project was a resounding success. However, in hindsight, more extensive beta testing with a wider range of pub managers might have provided additional insights into potential in the field issues for even further refinement. Thanks for everything Steve Comerford

I’m an executive for Namesake Collaborative. We’re an identity management platform for the trans and non-binary community.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mokutan Technologies Ltd?

We hired Mokutan Technologies Ltd to build the low-code MVP of our initial product.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Mokutan Technologies Ltd is helping us build the MVP from the ground up; the project includes a lot of form automation and designing user flows for the form automation. The team is also building a dashboard for users to manage those different forms. The app is being built using Bubble, and Mokutan Technologies Ltd offers maintenance and hosting services. We’ve also used Miro to build wireframes and outline what we want the product to look like. 

Mokutan Technologies Ltd is working with us to develop product and technical strategies to make it easier for us to scale in the future. The app was originally only intended for use in one state, so the team is helping us make sure that we focus on expanding to other states.

We primarily work with Marcel and Sunny (Directors), but we’ve also worked with Ali (Software Developer).

We found them on Upwork; we appreciated that they understood the startup process and thought they could relate well to where we were at.

We started working together in January 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Mokutan Technologies Ltd has reduced the number of bugs we're seeing and has created forms that can be downloaded. We’ve also been able to launch a beta version and have been getting feedback on that from users. 

How did Mokutan Technologies Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

We primarily communicate via email and Zoom meetings. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are approachable, have good response times, and provide us with a high level of availability. The team has been really good about navigating misaligned expectations, and we’ve been able to put systems into place that have made the process smoother. We’ve also been impressed with the care and learning that Mokutan Technologies Ltd has put into the product to provide a solution that works. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

There were a few miscommunications in the beginning, and we weren’t entirely happy with some of the tools that we were using, but they’ve been good about listening to us and fixing things to make improvements. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you’re a startup looking to build a fully robust and functional MVP, Mokutan Technologies Ltd is a great partner. They are low-cost and can provide an effective way to test product-market fit.

My company is a staffing agency, we help people find flexible jobs and shifts with ease. I am an Internal Entrepreneur, and my primary role is to build products that we can use internally that will improve our current business processes.

We hired Mokutan to build internal software that would allow us to improve our onboarding process and improve the human resources experience for employees. For example, a software that would allow employees to book vacations, give and receive feedback, and to understand their career progression through a clear, interactive tool.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We selected Mokutan because it was clear very early on that they understood the potential of our product and offered suggestions for ways in which we could improve the product that other competitors hadn’t. They really understood our business and were keen to help us build something useful rather than simply executing our brief.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The scope was an internal tool with three user types, employees, managers, and admin. Built with a bubble front end, custom API, and node.js script to facilitate filling in a PDF from the platform. The project was completed within three weeks, 1.5 months earlier than we had estimated.

As it was an internal tool, we designed briefly using Miro, and the Mokutan team made judgment calls on design during development, involving myself at any crucial points. We leveraged Bubble’s platform for authentication and the database.

The key steps were alignment on the brief, and then the team checked in with me every week until the project was delivered. Once delivered, the team tested it further for a week, and then we rolled it out internally to the first department. We are so happy with it that we are exploring scaling it to deliver as a SaaS tool to other companies

We spoke primarily with the Project Manager, but one other developer was supporting the build.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We've not fully deployed the tool internally and we anticipate that it will lower our costs on the other tools we use and increase productivity internally

The team was timely with delivery and communicated often. We used email primarily initially and phone calls when needed. Once the product was built, they introduced us to a custom Notion page to which we could report bugs or request features.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They took the time to understand the problems we, as a company, were trying to solve. And used their knowledge and experience to advise, whilst explaining if they were suggesting something different, exactly why that may be the wrong or right method.

I think everything was smooth as planned

Planit is a human-led, tech-powered business, focused specifically on event planning. We're in our first iteration which is a two-sided marketplace with a minor workflow. I'm the founder.

We hired Mokutan Technologies to develop our web platform. The goal of the web platform was to threefold:

1. Allow us to build traction and position us to raise money from investors
2. Improve our current service to clients by leveraging the platform ourselves
3. Gain more customers, companies who use the platform and plan their own events

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We selected Mokutan on recommendation from our investment partner, they had an established relationship with the Mokutan team and recommended them to build our application. Once we were introduced we had a series of calls with the Mokutan team and had a workshop with them at their offices. We found that they were clear, wanted to help us find the best solutions for our problems and we liked their energy so decided they were the best partner to help us build!

The application was built across two key phases. Design with which Mokutan and our team worked to find the best look and feel for our application. We designed in partnership, firstly they built a flow on Miro which they consulted us on, then once we all had a clear idea of the flow of the app, they designed it on Figma. Once everyone was happy with the design, they built the application on bubble.io. We wanted to focus on speed and gaining traction so were advised that a no-code solution would be the best first version

We worked with three individuals on Mokutan’s team. A project lead, and two bubble.io developers.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

I think the best thing to measure against is looking at what we set out to do. The objective was to create a functioning two-sided marketplace with the complexity of introducing an approval process in a design we'd instructed. We achieved that and more, the team went beyond elements we'd perhaps not considered and ensured a working, connected and fully thought-out platform.

As a team they were very communicative. They broke down all technical decisions that we had to face in clear digestible ways. They primarily used Notion and emails for project management. We also had a weekly call to the project. Marcel, in particular, has been brilliant, his approach, initiative and genuine interest in finding a solution made the process enjoyable.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They had a real sense of ownership about our application and really understood the journey of a first time founder and they were able to challenge in a way that benefited our thought process. Lovely to work with them.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We gave them feedback during the process on improvements to our Notion page. For example when we started adding tickets in the maintenance phase of the project we wanted to be able to triage what we wanted to act on/not act on and that was initially not very easy with the system.

I'm the Co-founder of a market-data & financial analytics platform for renewable energy investors.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Mokutan Technologies Ltd, and what were your goals?

We hired Mokutan to build a financial analytics platform that allowed consultancy companies based in Saudi Arabia to price derivatives and provide analytics to their customers. Mokutan developed the frontend in Flutter, connected with a SQL database and created a bespoke API to connect with our financial models.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We had a series of phone calls with Mokutan to discuss our specific problem and they hosted an in-person workshop with us in their offices. Upon which they gave us a scope and timeline for the project. After meeting them, we decided they were the best choice out of the development agencies we were speaking to at the time.

We worked together in a few key steps. The first step was the scoping period, during this point we confirmed the scope of work. The next stage was design, during this stage the Mokutan team and ourselves designed the look and feel of the platform together with the key endpoints for the API that they were going to create. We also agreed on the database structure to ensure that the platform was as optimized as possible to deliver information quickly to our end users. Once the platform was designed, the Mokutan team developed it. During this period, we had 3 steering committee meetings at which point they presented their progress. Finally, we tested the platform, provided more feedback and tested again before launching to a subset of our customers. The key technologies used were: Flutter, Firebase, node.js, Postman, Python

There was a team of 4: one project manager, one lead developer, and two junior developers.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our primary goal with this project was to deliver a unique solution for our customers based in Saudi Arabia. Since building the application we have been able to service these customers and a few more. We also had very positive feedback from the users! The second goal of the project was to take our current models and create API endpoints that could be used for other applications. This was successfully completed during the course of the project. And leaves us room to create similar bespoke platforms in the future.

The project management was great and really structured! We knew what was happening and when it was happening. They created a Notion space for us to report bugs, add features, stay up to date with features and communicate.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their team really cared about the profitability and goals of the product. It felt like they were part of the team and wanted our product to succeed! Everyone on the team was involved in the project ... and all seemed to understand the code that was being worked on. This isn't the case with others that we have worked with in the past. A great team to work with !!

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

None that I can think of at the moment. A friendly team and would definitely recommend them & use them again!
