What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Octav Studio, specifically Hamza and his team, exceeded expectations on our recent VR development project: Visualization of Crypto Currency Prices in 3D. From the initial interview process, Hamza stood out with his exceptional listening skills and ability to quickly grasp the core concept behind my vision for a 3D stock table representing blockchain currencies in VR. He understood my intent and actively contributed to refining the idea and creating a clear project plan.

Throughout development, Hamza demonstrated outstanding organization and responsiveness. He provided a structured template to guide our information gathering, facilitated productive meetings, and consistently sought feedback to ensure alignment. The final product was delivered on time and surpassed my expectations in terms of functionality and UX.

Generate recommendations and bundle them as an estimated price.  I believe we did discuss it but i put any further development of the project on hold and perhaps its something we can discuss in the future.

One of our clients requested a VR simulation. As we specialize in blockchain development and security, we didn't have the expertise to develop VR simulations. We asked OCTAV to develop the project for us.

Project description: Our client wanted a virtual reality application designed to simulate an emergency room, placing med students in the role of an emergency doctor without any risks.

The aim of the simulation is to test med students, who must quickly perform tests, analyze results and make crucial decisions to save patients' lives.

Deliverables: 

•  VR simulation of an emergency room.
• Back-office Web app to access students' results.

I’m the head of operations at CRISIS Lab. We provide IT services in general, like software development and consulting; we’re not in a specific niche. We’re located in Morocco.

What challenge were you trying to address with OCTAV?

We received an email from an end client; they wanted us to create a final project regarding virtual visits for tourism. They suggested the use of innovative technology, so our consultant proposed a virtual tour using VR technology. They seemed very interested in the idea, so we agreed to do the virtual tour. However, we didn’t have VR experts.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We hired OCTAV to develop a VR-guided visit to one of the sites in Marrakesh. We handled the project for the client, and OCTAV did the project behind the scenes. They mainly used Unity and Blender, among other tools.

We visited their office and tried out and tested some of the simulations they worked on. Since it was a project for an end client, no maintenance contract was included.

The simulation allowed users to visit one of Marrakesh’s riads, take a tour, and see how the site looked exactly. It featured different pictures referencing Moroccan culture, and people could visit and explore the riad.

What is the team composition?

Our first contact was Houssam (Head of Partnerships); he was our primary contact in the project. On the technical side, we had Hamza (CTO).

They contacted us if there was any issue with the project; we didn’t have much contact with the whole team. OCTAV had that policy because multiple communication channels may confuse the technical team. Our contacts were only Houssam and Hamza.

How did you come to work with OCTAV?

One of our partners introduced us to OCTAV. We met Houssam, who was based in Morocco. We had a couple of meetings before deciding to work with OCTAV.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in mid-December 2023 and delivered it in March 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The project was pretty successful. The end client liked the simulation and displayed it on multiple occasions.

How did OCTAV perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated through a mix of channels. We stuck with emails and Slack but also used on-site meetings and phone calls. Since the head of partnerships was based in Morocco, it was very easy to meet them.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Houssam was very helpful in explaining the technology and integration. Although we didn’t have expertise in VR, their explanation made it possible for us to propose the product to the end client.

On the other hand, Hamza was very detailed in his questions, which is why the simulation was as realistic as we hoped for. Overall, it was great working with them. We’ll definitely work with OCTAV again if the opportunity arises.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Delivering on time was crucial, and OCTAV stuck to it. Moreover, the quality of their work was excellent. They exceeded our initial requirements, and the end client liked the project at the end of the day.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Since our communication was mainly with Houssam and Hamza, sometimes Hamza needed to coordinate with the team before getting back to us. It was part of their internal process because they didn’t want someone to keep talking and confusing the technical team with different requests. We understand the concern, but waiting for them to coordinate and get back to us is something they can improve. Other than that, it was a great experience overall.

OCTAV’s rate can be a bit above the market, but hiring them is definitely the right decision if you're looking for quality.
