What challenge were you trying to address with SynergyBoat Solutions?

We needed help with custom software development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

SynergyBoat Solutions provides custom software development services. The team focuses on creating a client-facing platform and uses PNodeJS, AngularJS, MongoDB, React, OpenAI, LangChain and AWS EC2, AWS Lambda, AWS Glue and AWS Redshift for the websites. SynergyBoat Solutions has integrated multiple platforms into a single model and has spent a lot of time examining data quality and integrity. We try not to reinvent the wheel and use commercially available technologies, but when it comes to our customer experience, we want to have absolute control of that, so that's where SynergyBoat Solutions' focus is. 

What is the team composition?

We work directly with two co-founders of SynergyBoat Solutions, Hussain and Abhishek. Hussain has more of a product and project management background, while Abhishek is the technical brain behind the operation. They have a team of 10–15 people who work on our projects.

How did you come to work with SynergyBoat Solutions?

SynergyBoat Solutions was a referral from a colleague. When I joined the company, they were already providing services for us. I re-interviewed them for new projects or for the extension of our contract. What made us stick with them was the fact that they already knew what we were building. 

More importantly, even though they're very technical, they're always more than willing to understand our business perspective, which makes them deliver better services. They're attuned to our priorities and the things that are important to our business, so we kept working with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent over $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The team has been providing services for our company since 2020–2021. The current project started in May 2023, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

One of the things we really look for is the integration of many different technologies into a single platform, which is how I have measured SynergyBoat Solutions' contributions. They've spent time looking at data quality and integrity, and how that adds value to us and credibility to the results. We pull many of our company's financial reporting elements from the development SynergyBoat Solutions has done for us, so data quality and integrity are very important. 

Another element we take into account is UX and the user journey. SynergyBoat Solutions has a good understanding of what a seamless user journey looks like, and they strive to understand that for us and on behalf of our customers, which leads directly to customer satisfaction.

The quality of the team's work is great. SynergyBoat Solutions excels at documenting requirements and specifications, of which they do a lot. This makes our job easier because they take care of a lot the documentation. 

How did SynergyBoat Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

SynergyBoat Solutions delivers on time and within budget. The team communicates well with us, and we use WhatsApp, Google Meet, and Jira. We have calls twice a week.

What did you find most impressive about them?

SynergyBoat Solutions is a true partner, not a commodity. I can pay for hours, development, or certain types of technologies, which is the commoditized element of software development. The SynergyBoat Solutions team understands our business at a macro level and helps us figure out or provide input into the roadmap and strategic direction. That's what I really value about them. 

Another aspect I appreciate about SynergyBoat Solutions is that Hussain and Abhishek are sort of jacks of all trades, from data modeling, strategy, database development, to mobile and web development. Abhishek, in particular, is kind of like a one-stop shop for everything when it comes to us, which makes our work very seamless.

Are there any areas they could improve?

SynergyBoat Solutions is always eager to please their customers, which has put us in situations where they find it difficult to set boundaries and say no. The team has overextended themselves a little too much without billing for additional hours. Improving customer expectation settings and management can be helpful for them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be open and transparent with SynergyBoat Solutions in terms of your expectations and helping them understand your business. The more you share about your business, priorities, risks, and market, the better they'll be able to deliver results.
