I’m the executive assistant at Blueme, a home fragrance brand that sells candles. The products are manufactured in Vietnam and shipped over here for us to sell on our website and other vendors in their stores.

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?
We hired Big Red Jelly to build our Shopify website. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?
We already had a vision in mind in terms of what we wanted the website to look like, and Big Red Jelly submitted the designs based on the assets that we’d prepared beforehand. They handled the coding and managed everything on that end. They also submitted ideas and showed us where we could make compromises based on the platform’s limitations.

At present, we’ve launched the website, but we still work with Big Red Jelly for its maintenance. They’ve given us two weeks from when we launch the website to make any design changes that we want. Moreover, we’re collaborating with the team for the site’s SEO. We’re going to meet soon to explore marketing avenues in terms of Google listings, indexing, and social media ads.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with at least three developers. Zack (Web Build Director) has personally helped us and is leading the team.
How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?
Our team found Big Red Jelly on a website that listed a ton of Shopify and WordPress developers. The platform allowed us to filter the vendors and check their reviews online. Big Red Jelly came up, and we liked that they showed their entire portfolio stack. It contained all the websites they’d worked on and what aspects of the website they handled. We liked it because nothing spoke more than the actual work they’d done.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $7,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project started in October 2023, and it’s ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve generated around $1,600 in sales so far, which is a lot considering that we haven’t done any marketing for the website. We’re happy that people are finding the website. Moreover, we’ve received great reviews and no complaints about its functionality because it’s mobile-friendly.
 
Overall, the quality of Big Red Jelly’s work is great. They work fast, considering the content we have on the website. They’re extremely efficient in how they create everything.
How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?
We haven’t exceeded our budget, and Big Red Jelly is reasonable and flexible in terms of costs. They prefer upfront payments, but they’ve agreed to receive two payments. We’re a small business and don’t have much upfront capital, so we appreciate that.
 
For timelines, there have been no delays on their side. As long as we give them what they need from us quickly, they can do everything we ask. For communication, we have weekly meetings and use emails.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Big Red Jelly provides us with great options and feedback based on what works with their other clients. They’re great at sharing their experiences to help us know what’s functional and what’s not. Overall, they’re highly communicative, and they can bring our goals to life.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t any.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Big Red Jelly gets a lot of their work done at night, so I recommend sending everything you want them to do in one go and waiting until the next day. That’s the rhythm that works for us. 

On top of that, do your own research on the ideal apps to use for your website, especially if you’re on Shopify. Big Red Jelly can make recommendations, but new and different apps always come out. Do some basic search on Google or YouTube, and you’ll find many things that might be good for your site. The team will be happy to teach you about installing the apps.
